  1. having frequented rods shop in aflecks, he said that if he was asked gino would repress things for them so some of the things were probably not pressed till a later day so that is why the numbers may be all over the place. mark

my favourite inst is earl wright thumb a ride and the debate was what instrumental makes you proud to be into northern not what inst is soulful, cos there was an awful lot of non soulful vacals played on the scene. and i still think california montage is the best ending record ever and brings back loads of memories, not soulful but is really catchy like raindrops love and sunshine just a nice poppy tune. mark
  3. some more reveiws jason jazzy phil parry love the insistent start then it drops back to a nice tempo. roger freeman real oddball one sort of mocking-bird type beat. jimmy williams very teddy randazzo prodution on this paul havekin kylo turner really good big voice new york/jamaican soul. cosmo have been after this since paul first played it to me j b bingham this is the version dan collins harry and the keyavas love this i should reqally play it more often kenny sheppard superb! maurice jackson love this so laid back and classy nick g buddy connor class love this want one bonnie brisker love this got one percy and them a brilliant double sider think paul regrets swapping this to me craig westwood freddie paris has he ever done anything bad springfield rifle perfect and always gets a good dancefloor reaction dena barnes brilliant is this other side of if you ever walked if so this must be one of the best double siders around jocks bobby reed not heard this before nice piano led tune creation thought this would have gone massive a couple of years ago george jackson what a voice big beat ballad at its best soul source johnny moore this is brilliant will have to find one of these ben-e-king i am a bit of a sucker for the latiny drifters style songs worlds funkiest band a slightly smoother versionthink buddy shaves it though thats your lot as i have not got mark bicknells or the aussie ones yet. mark

so long as they stay away from the third sat of the month then i would attend the lifeline has probably the top line up for an upfront night and the greatstone has very enthusiastic collectors as their line up mark
  11. allthough the greatstone is only once a month i change the full cartridge every 12 months and feel that for a small night we have a fairly good sound system the whole lot is approx 3 years old, i think that some people who run clubs have no idea on equipment and seem to skimp on the equipment. mark

well done mark the only way to beat them is to be in the game, glad you are staying and where is my bloody cd from the swap mark
  13. Just out of interest, when you first started buying/collecting where'd you get em from. Deep in the last century (1972) when I first stumbled across Rare Soul,at the wonderful Pendulum,i don't remember too many lists apart from Brian 45 Philips,Soul Bowl(but I think that was a touch later) & the back page of Blues & Soul. In Manchester we were a bit spoiled we had. Ralphs (infamous) Spin Inn Hime & Addison Rare Records & Global, --that wasn't really a shop more a counter in a dusty old warehouse where you would be presented with a list of records at varying prices from £1 up. I bought some nice stuff from there "blind" but I would love to see some of the lists now to see what was missed. Ah memories(already fading) Over to you. Tony you forgot robinsons records tony justs in the underground market and spinn inn for new releases and derek howe at hmv mark

  17. hi might as well make a start Al & Kolla Glen miller where is the love still a great record not had as many plays as it deserves this may be due to the fact it has never been a relatively cheap record so the poorer among us cant get it to play it Dianne Minor like this very much in the dee dee style Ella woods just a brilliant soul record and too expensive for me Miff Aki Aleong 1st hearing of this one which is what i expected from the cd swap great tune if a little sparse on the lyrics front. Solo really love this great harmonies which if you have the album you will know as it is a fusion of doo wop and modern. recommend the album(cd) Elvis Sorry Tony Middleton if elvis had done this it wopuld have been a #1 Chalky this is the #1 cd for me Sir Ceaser this is the business a real stafford beat ballad, wish i could have been there to hear it Admirations the mexican marachi trumpets do it for me teardrops moody soulful and great will be looking for one of these Fraser Dunn Interpretations classy late night music slightly jazzy Ray Hines the type of record you hope for when you flip something over. little susan brilliant love those twisty shakey things in the background Scotty Frank Lynch 1st heard this after recommendation by I Levine this should get more plays Ebony Essence there is no hiding it i love my 70's best version by far Norwood Long ace crossover Colin Day T J Wiliiams rate this as good as lewis clarke northern in its best form simple and strong. Soundbreakers reminds me of Nabay beleive it or not lydie King everything she does seems to be good Mark (vault of souler) Tony Washington not heard this before but very impressed both sides good will look for this one. Unlimitted four probably the best £15 you can spend Michael Cloud very nice 70's Dave Bywell Delletes really like this never heard it before one to look out for George Wydell love this one simple but great Kenny Lewis if only for the fact i have this and play it out love it that is it for now but my top three are chalky's Jason's Jazzy Paul Havekin mark
  18. as far as i know the light blue issue is the first and should sell for about £60 if you can get that for it quite hard to sell but there seems to be some interest on the chat sites for this one is it getting played again. mark
