  1. Over the years, this 'underground scene' has withstood all that's tried to dilute it. TV pundits, Egocentric Media thirsty DJs, Divvies who dance in clothing 40 years old, youngsters who think dancin' on Duffy videos is gaining them 'street cred', Cassette tapes, CDs, MP3s, Ipods, returnees who instantly become promoters, people who reinvent their personal history, bootleg DJs, the soul police, the vinyl police, the fashion police, the DS, the influx of barbs, the Mod revival, Coronation Street, naff advert and after naff advert on TV, a million new 'record dealers', price guides, carvers, theatrical plays, film extras, yuppie type record collectors, etc etc and none of it has affected me. I still do what I've done for 35 years. I buy records and dance to 'em. Can't see this film making any impression whatsoever on my lifestyle or enjoyment of what I do. It's a peripheral, a distraction for some but irrelevant to me. I'll probably get the DVD off Pete Smith in a year for a fiver and watch it when I've a spare 90 mins but that'll be it. It won't change my life, it won't stir up feelings of protectionism that it does in some. It's a film....like "Finding Nemo" was. That's it. Regards, Dave
  2. There's a lengthy thread on this 45 already on the forum. A quick search should reveal whet you're looking for. Regards, Dave
  3. I shouldn't have thought so. Someone had a touch of irony naming the group 'The Believers'. Regards, Dave
  4. That I've never seen. Anyone got a scan of one? Regards, Dave
  5. Hello Mate, I've PM'd you. Regards, Dave
  6. Sorry Mate but she was beaten to it by Fat Boy Slim, That Hip Teens DJ gubbins and Amy Whinehouse. Regards, Dave
  7. Pat had one back in the early 90s too, I should have had it then. I've seen few of them over the years but there's always been "something else at the time!". Ah well, the search continues eh? Regards, Dave
  8. Play side not to clever either kiddo! Regards, Dave

  11. Hi Mark, Oops! No - the spelling is not the issue. BUT.....it's NOT the regular St Lawrence logo format I'm looking for. It's the BRIGHT PINK SOLID FONT 45. The 45s with the St Lawrence logo of the globe with the city on top (with or without Chicago address), are NOT what I'm looking for. Thanks for all the offers folks but it's the PINK issue I'm searching for. They're out there as I've seen a couple over the years. Regards, Dave
  12. I'm looking for an ALL PINK copy of : Johnny Sales - I Can't Get Enough Of Your Love - St Lawrence. No tyre kickin' here folks...you got one, I'll have it at the going rate. PM or email hitsville2648@earthlink.net Regards, dave

  14. Here's a few pics as I'll always remember Glenn... With Barbara Green With fellow Hitsvillers (Stood next to Deon Jackson). The "Famous Five"
  15. Oh NO! Gutted. Speechless! Glen was a real character. Shared a passion for artists, records and always a dry quip about 'the scene'. Last time I spoke to Glenn was at Alan Pollards funeral! Macc Lads will never be the same! Gutted! Regards, Dave
  16. I will also be there with cameras, dictaphones etc at the ready! If previous trips are anything to go by, it'll be a great chance to meet the artists close up again. Can't wait! Plus a nostalgic visit to Bahama Breeze for the Jamaican Patties!! Oh Yeah! Regards, Dave
  17. Yep, I found a copy of Jimmy Helms on Symbol last year that was cracked about 75% of the way round the run out groove. Almost like it dinked! Crack followed the rim of the label exactly. Weird eh? Regards, Dave
  18. Fantastic. One of the best posts I've ever sen on here. What Soul - Source is about. Cheers Bob for sharing. Regards, Dave
  19. Seen loads of artists over the years and it would be a difficult task to rate any one of them as THE top act for me. There are however a few that really stand out: Del Larks - New Jersey: The rehearsal/sound check in the afternoon. FANTASTIC. Their appearance a couple of years later at Prestatyn pales. (Sammy was ill). Impressions - Tampa Bay: Fantastic! Never thought I'd ever see them live but saw them in an auditorium with 1500 black people of a similar age all dressed up in their 'finery'. (3 Whites in the audience). Was like sitting in Row B of The Apollo 1966! FANTASTIC! Jr Walker - RAF Brize Norton: Wet Sunday Night, early 80s, only about 20 people in, most of whom had no idea who he was. Spent a couple of hours with the great man and he played the entire set directly at me! FANTASTIC! Brenda Holloway - Ritz Manchester 1998: From the moment she appeared in that blue satin dress she had us in the palm of her hand. Man...the lady could belt out a tune too! FANTASTIC! Many others too but I'll leave it at that. Let someone else have a go. Regards, Dave Sorry had to include 1 more: Little Anthony and The Imperials: Little Darlin's, Kissimmee: Completely blew away! "Hurt So Bad?!" Oh Yeah!
  20. Sport 45....Demo or Issue? Regards, Dave
  21. Anyone got any unmarked pink Canadian REO sleeves they wanna sell/trade? Regards, Dave
  22. By our very own Andalucians! Been played here for at least 3 years. They're also appearing at the next Kings and Queens Weekender in Hamburg (Sept) backing Dean Parish and Tommy Hunt.
  23. Richard, Never seen or heard of a W/D for D&Es. Wasn't this licenced in by Ed Wingate? Anyone know anything about the individual members of the group or how they came to Mr Wingate's attention? Regards, Dave
  24. Bought the portable Numark when it came out. Used it twice, went tits up. Never again. Regards, Dave
  25. Gotta admire AA though.....made a good living done up like a dog's dinner, dodgy ponytail, no voice to speak of, white wellies and living proof that 'white men can't jump!' Who on Earth bought that crap? Regards, Dave
