I just read this, it's a really annoying piece to be fair. implying racism among people attending NS events and that the NS scene was a protest movement. She may have got stared at because she was the only person in the room under 50!!! And the point about getting pushbacks for playing new tracks in sets annoys me [they must have been at the local top 500 only doo] as we have people pushing the new releases!!! More BBC tripe I'm afraid.

So reading this I jumped on the Charley Records website to find its still under construction, and in the shop there's quite a bit of pre order stuff. Mostly rehashes of oder output. There's nothing really telling in the about us section either. Reading some of the release notes I would infer that the stuff they are releasing is not "new finds" in the wild, but someones been rooting through the Charley archives and digging out things that may have been overlooked in the past. FWIW, having had a Lee Bates for years, when I listened to the unissued female? version, it sounded like someone had been tweaking Lees vocals a bit to get a slightly different tone. Don't shoot just my opinion!!!

Couple of my games here. The harmonies on the Capitols take this version to another level for Me. And the grown up vocals on David's version of the Jackson 5 classic also takes to another level.

Kimberlite of Canada for me, don't release a lot but everything they have put out is a winner. Followed by Palmetto Street, which is a subsidiary of Colmine specifically for Ben Pirani's output.

That Shirley Wahls deffo got a few plays out in the 80s. Great tune though, would be happy to hear it out again

one more older northern record I picked up for no money recently, would love to hear out loud in a big.room with lots of sweaty dancers throwing themselves around. BYW I'd never heard it till I saw it and picked it up.

there aren't many records you can't hear at home these days, with the massive coverage of the interweb and facetube etc. I would like to hear some of the things I have in my collection to hear them on a big sound system in a big room. DJs need to mix it up a bit to keep it interesting, some big tunes to fill the floor then sprinkle in some lesser known (affordable or not) to the crowd.

this is a bit odd, I have purchased releases 1 to 7 direct from the kimberlite website. 1 this is kim009 so what happened to 8, and there's no change to the website either, still only showing releases 1 to 7.

would there be a search capability more specific than the general source search? nothing worse than scrolling through hundreds of lists
