Contrary to what I wrote above, it's not Curtis Mayfield singing the lead on the newly discovered 45, it's Sam Gooden. I was corrected by Ian "Taffy" Guy regarding this on an FB thread yesterday.

Just found the thread on FB by Eddie Hubbard. Yes, that's the same take as on the CD I mentioned. I have no idea why anyone would want to hear that version instead of the Leroy Hutson version, but horses for courses.

There's an alternate version with Curtis Mayfield doing the lead vocals included on the "Indelible Impressions" double-CD on Sequel from 1999. It's a mess compared to the Leroy Hutson led version. Perhaps that's the one that has sneaked on an a 45? I don't know. Do you have a link to the sales post, or in which group was it?

The 1974/1975 release or one from the 60's?

Have in mind that the Brazil 45 is from 1974 or 1975.

The Virtue and Fayette releases must be by the same artist. Frank Virtue owned both of those labels. The Amy 45 has got Virtue mastering details in the dead wax so is most likely the same person as well.

It sold for $487. I was the seller. 4 years ago. It was bizarre. I recieved the payment without any problems, from a UK buyer. I couldn't believe it.

Cool record, but not a particularly rare 45, there are currently 6 copies for sale on Discogs and a couple pass through ebay every year. His 45 on the Vi-Tose label is rare though, and the one on Big Apple is also scarce and was issued on dark red vinyl:
