That's an amazing album in my opinion and her other recordings from about the same time are also great.
  2. It indeed works great as a dancefloor-clearer and all-around party-killer unless the crowd you're playing to have heard it a couple of times at home first...
  3. About £15-£25. Nut much interest in it despite being a superb tune. Vinyl DJ copies might fetch more than a styrene issue copy.
  4. The labels are the same on both the "slow" and "fast/hit" versions of this tune. The difference is in the matrix numbers! On the 45 where the scans are from, the scratched in matrix numbers on the "Shop Around" side are: H-55518-A2 Your copy seems to be different. That's where the problem is. The only way you'll get the "slow" version on a Tamla copy, is to find one with H-55518-A2 as the matrix numbers on the "Shop Around" side. Good luck digging!
  5. If anyone has got two copies of this 45, I'll take the second one.
  6. Matrix numbers on the "Shop Around" side is: H-55518-A2 Scans:
  7. The vocal takes on the Demon LP and Truth 45 version of "Midnight Affair" are definitely different and I will demonstrate it by posting an MP3 clip below where I've taken the same section (1:08-1:18) from first the 45 version and then the LP version (the backing track play at the exact same speed on both versions). Listen to the way she holds the "oooohh" wail on the different takes, on the first one she holds right through it and on the second there's a dip halfway through it. And "affair" is pronounciated very differently on the two takes. There are even different lyrics, in the clip from the 45 Sandra sings "we're gonna have a midnight", in the clip from the LP she sings "talkin' 'bout a midnight". Have a listen.
  8. Nice to finally see Other Brothers "Nobody But Me" get a legitimate 7" release. Top tune!
  9. "Evening Of Love" was issued on 12" and 7" as well.
  10. I agree with the whole "it could be the mastering" that makes the Millie Jackson tune sound different but: The LP and 45 versions of Sandra Wright's "Midnight Affair" are definitely different takes. The vocal phrasing is different and no mastering job could've affected that.
  11. It would really, really surprise me if a genuine issue or demo copy of this exists. Here's what "The Complete Motown Singles Vol. 6: 1966" has to say about it:

I'd also really like to hear especially his 45s on Skylark and Dodson which I've seen sell for considerable sums in the past. I have no idea what they sound like. Deep? Uptempo? Crap? Soundclips anyone?
  13. Definitely one of the harder Sansu 45s but still quite cheap when it turns up. Superb tune!
  14. Do your own copy here: https://www.vinylcarvers.com/homepage.html £14 for two sides.

No, it's just faster, not better...

Congrats! Monster tune and a very hard 45 to locate.
  17. Stick them on eBay with high quality sound clips taken from the 45s and state exact condition of the 45s and let people make up their own minds. I'm sure you'd sell some of them.
  18. I was pretty sure I would have that slung back at me... But I have to say that I really, really do dislike "I Can Feel The Pain" and "Sorry Is A Sorry Word". It's the vocal that puts me off. "I Remember When" on the other hand is a truly beautiful track. But it wouldn't be fun if we all agreed on everything. There are some nice unreleased Ivy Jo tunes though. Yep, sure does.

The original version is by Johnny Copeland himself. On Atlantic.
  20. Really looking forward to get my hands on this CD. Anyone got the 7" of "Evening Of Love" for sale by the way? PM me if so.
  21. I totally agree with you. A truly superb tune! The flipside "I'm Just A Man" is also great. And I agree with you on "Chapel Bells Are Calling" as well. Will "Evening Of Love" be on there?

So you're the one who got Hasse's copy? That guy has got quite a collection! Not to mention his reggae stuff!
  23. Thanks for the info, didn't know at all about this release. Will have to keep a lookout. By the way, what's the cat#? PRO 9?
  24. It looks like a Vee Jay distributed Atlantic 45, which seems weird. Haven't seen one myself earlier. This Atlantic catalogue number is from about the same time as Jimmy Hughes only Atlantic 45, and he otherwise released 45s on Fame during this time (who often were distributed by Atlantic around this time, 1966/1967), but some of his Fame material appeared on his first LP which was issued on Vee Jay... There might be a link in there somewhere, but I'm just thinking out loud...
