Some 45s Up For Grabs
Just a couple of hours left on these. Thanks for checking them out.

Lenis Guess Question
I disagree. Very poor lead vocal. Annoyingly sped up, he sounds like one of the chipmunks. Sorry, each to their own and all that, but it's Gary US Bonds for me every day of the week.

Three Degrees
Available on a US Rca 45 as well. Seems to be going for the same. Also included on one of his LPs which can be had for £5 or less if you look around.

Soul Abroad
I'll be spinning some records at that Copenhagen do on the 23rd of april. Come over and say hi if you're there. I'm really looking forward to it.

Worst Ever Motown?
I think the above is a great moody garage rock ballad with a haunting organ arrangement. Was originally issued on the obscure Fenton label, then picked up by Spirit, then Motown.

Lenis Guess Question
The only version of "Workin For My Baby" which matters to me is the one by Gary (U.S.) Bonds on the Legrand label. It's recorded over the same backing track, but has got more oomph, grittier vocals and backing singers. I love this track to bits. Here's an RA of it: (perhaps this is the one you've been liking all along? )

New Cd Release
You're looking at the wrong places/CDs. There's plenty of interesting previously un-comped stuff being released all the time. For those of you who have an interest in soul music that reaches beyond the "northern territory" the following site is a good place which sell a lot of the new stuff: https://www.dustygroove.com

Little Tommy
Yes that was kinda what I was on about, I didn't mean that Little Tommy all of a sudden would start sounding like Bill Bush. I hope that several hundred original copies has been found and that the price of the 45 seriously plummets down so I can afford to buy a copy. That would really be great.

Ebay
As for the supposed Tommy Mosley boot.. is it this one: https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=4719446501 If yes, then please let me know how to determine whether it's a boot or not because that's me auctioning the copy above and I certainly DON'T want to sell bootlegs as originals. The copy on the link above has got a delta matrix stamp (67025) that would date it to have been pressed at about june/july 1967. Any help would be appreciated.

Worst Ever Motown?
Have you heard "We're Almost There" from 1975? Fantastic tune.
-
Worst Ever Motown?
The flipside to this, "Tie Me Tight", is fantastic IMO. I'd really like to have a copy if anyone's got one they don't need. Bob Kayli's real name was Robert Gordy, Berry's brother.

Cheap Stuff Clearout
Don't know this one. Is it a version of the classic rocker by Bobby Lewis on Beltone? Sound clip anyone? Also, that Bobby Parker 45 you have there is one of my all-time fave 45s. Fantastic track.

Jim & Lee On Smash Wanted
For yourself? Not exactly "your" kinda sound with those screaching female vocals. If you're on about "Let Go, Baby", that is... decent dirgey backing though.
-
Cado Belle?
How strange... picked up a copy of the LP here in my hometown in Sweden yesterday for about £0.15. I like that tune as well. Nice with a brass-heavy boogie kinda feeling and then there's that dreadful/brilliant guitar solo right in the middle. Was also issued as an Anchor 45 by the way.

The Artistics
I'm a sucker for the flipside to "Love Song", "I'll Always Love You". Nice uptempo dancer. Great group.
-
They're Playing Out Song
Whoa! Hadn't heard that tune in ages, but went to a C86/indie/twee club this past saturday and they played it to a packed dancefloor with people singing along etc. Sounded very nice indeed.
-
Cash Mccall
I did not say that it was unknown, just that it wasn't "widely known". Most records aren't widely known, really.
-
Cash Mccall
No, I don't think it's particularly well known... not in the "Do I Love You", "Love You Baby" type of way at least. A great and cheap gritty soul tune. I prefer his equally cheap "I'm In Danger" on Checker though. Many of his releases are good, just pick them all up. There are at least two different artists named Cash McCall though so beware.
