  1. I agree, it's amazing that it turned up here in Sweden. But you would be surprised at the amount of turkish stuff I've found over the past couple of years. Don't know if it has got anything to do with the fact that a lot of people who earlier lived in Turkey are now situated in Malmoe (where I live) or if the 45s for some reason were imported at the time of release. But it sure is interesting to find these oddities! Will upload scans later of some of the other things I've found.
  2. Was out looking for records here in my hometown today and came across the 7" release of Linda Jones "My Heart Needs A Break" on Warner Bros. TURKEY! I didn't know that it existed. Has anyone of you seen this before?
  3. Hello! I've listed a bunch of records on eBay. There are label/sleeve scans and soundclips to all records. Check them out at: https://shop.ebay.com/pushkings/m.html SOUL / FUNK / BOOGIE / R&B highlights: Frank Ferrer ("Hallelujah"), Bobby Garrett ("I Can't Get Away"), Frank Lynch, Eric Mercury, Chuck Ray, Benny Curtis, Contenders, Jewel Bass, Silk, Fabulous Downbeats, Joe Murphy, Billy Hambric, Otis Clay, Halos, Blood Hollins, Universal Minds, Bobby Jones, Final Seconds, Harold Melvin, Jobell & Orchestra De Salsa etc. Thanks for looking! Take care. /Sebastian
  4. Check out Howlin Wolf's "You Gonna Wreck My Life", Guitar Ray's tune is lyrically pretty much a straight cover of that one: Great version of "How Many More Years" here as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Ou-6A3MKow&a=W-7zocZ9du0&playnext_from=ML
  5. Some eBay results for this 45: 2009-09-13 - $631 (VG) 2009-02-25 - $126 (G/VG-) 2008-09-11 - $720 (M-)
  6. The Clarence Carter version on ICHIBAN is from 1985.
  7. Worth noting that the CAB release is the original issue, the one on CAMILLE came later. If you compare the deadwax markings on the CAB and CAMILLE issues it looks like they re-used the CAB stamper/mother for the CAMILLE press (which might account for the bad sound quality on some of those due to overuse of the stamper).
  8. I've always been hesitant to believe that Billboard awarded Wigan Casino as the best disco in the world. Mainly beacuse it was a club that mostly played old music and it would go against what Billboard stood/stands for (i.e. promoting brand new music). But I'd love to be proven wrong as it's such a widespread and accepted claim that there hopefully is some truth to it. A scan of the article would be great if anyone of you has got it. The only mention of "Wigan Casino" in Billboard Magazine that I've been able to find so far is in a paragraph about Chosen Few's "Footsie" from a february 1975 issue.
  9. A gentle bump on this. Can anyone throw up a scan of that article or point me to which issue it was printed in so that I can go find it.

His entire new album is superb in my opinion and packed with well-written tunes. Includes a very nice cover of Frank Lynch's "Young Girl" as well!
  11. Does anyone have a clipping of that article? Or at least know which issue or month it was issued?

According to the liner notes in Numero Group's Twinight/Twilight anthology CD, the Mist were the same band as The Visitors on Bashie / Dakar / Dispo. Apparently the Mist 45 was issued (and quickly deleted) without the knowledge of any of the members in The Visitors.
  13. Only 2-3 hours to go on these auctions now. Thanks for looking! :-)

  16. Issued on a label called VOR (Vinyl Only Records). I have no idea where they come from or their legality. There are copies of "Vol. 1" on eBay for about £10 each.

  18. His new album arrived yesterday at the record store I work in and HOLY SHIT! I really liked his previous album and he's great live, but this new album is bloody astonishing! Have listened to it 5 times already today. The opening cover of Frank Lynch's "Young Girl" (!) was a nice surprise and it's fantastic. Too many faves to name them all, but "I Found You Out", the single mentioned above and the ballad "Pick A Number" are all great. I'm absolutely loving this. What a breath a fresh air!
  19. Amazing response from them! Sending money between banks within the EU via the IBAN/BIC system is free of charge (or for a minor fee in the region of £1 or less).
  20. 27 of the copies that this seller has sold has showed up on Popsike and Collectors Frenzy, plus he's got one copy on eBay right now, so it's defintiely more than a 25 count box.
  21. Are the first and second pressings done with the same stampers? If not, it would be great if you could post up the matrix info of the original to avoid any confusion in the future.

Two copies of the white label pressing (with Mark Loyd's "When I'm Gonna Find Her" on the flipside) have sold on eBay during the past couple of months. They fetched $57 and $86. If it's important that you have it on a 7" I'd recommend you to get ahold of a good quality soundfile and cut your own copy instead: https://www.timmion.com/cutting It'll be cheaper and just as "authentic".

  25. Here's the Babel venue (in Malmoe, Sweden) where we do our Function nights: /index.php?/calendar/1/event-15060
