  1. That guitar solo, panning from the left to right speaker and back again, is brutal!
  2. Yes, issued on the regular red/black Dial label:
  3. Just so you're aware of this in case you don't know it: the sound quality on the LEE JOHN label 45 is shockingly thin on the "Birth Of A Playboy" track compared to the MAPLE and CANYON issues. It's the exact same recording on all three 45s, but the LEE JOHN 45 suffers from very poor mastering.
  4. Most M- copies that turns up of this on eBay sell for £200-£250, and it turns up frequently. Lesser condition copies usually sell for less. Here are some prices from this year: 2009-09-20 - 385 USD 2009-07-12 - 160 GBP 2009-06-08 - 412 USD 2009-04-26 - 367 USD 2009-01-11 - 422 USD 2009-01-09 - 368 USD
  5. Both sides on his other DIAL release are good as well. An uptempo dancer b/w great super slow deep soul.
  6. Why not just incorporate the PayPal fee (4%) into the sale price? Make it £10.50 instead of £10. £52 instead of £50. £210 instead of £200. I know that those prices looks a bit odd, but at least the buyers will not have the feeling of being charged even more for something that just makes the sellers life more practical. While you're at it you might as well incorporate the shipping cost into the sales price and state "FREE SHIPPING AND NO PAYPAL FEES". That's in essence what all major retailers (and the grocery store around the corner) do, because it makes the item(s) psychologically more appealing and it will without a doubt entice more customers.
  7. Also have in mind that both sides on this 45 are getting plays at the moment.
  8. Only 5-6 hours left on these auctions now. Thanks for looking! :-)
  9. A copy sold for £52 on eBay in December 2008 if that's of any help. Another copy was on eBay just a month or two ago that ended without bids and with a starting price of £20.
  10. Superb version indeed! Gritty and brutal. A great CD from beginning to end in my opinion (as was "Vol. 1"). Have been playing it non-stop during the past couple of days. Also have to add that the sound quality on "Here It Comes" by The Persians on this CD is ridiculously good! Gorgeous tune.

  12. £334 is extremely high, it usually sells for £50-£75. I think that the demand comes from freakbeat and Joe Meek/R.G.M. collectors.

It might be legit, but it's not the first label. SWAN is the original label for those Showmen, Mickey Lee Lane and Sapphires tracks that appeared on ITZY as well. ITZY was, and still is, an "oldies" record label that release(d) 45s, LPs and CDs with tunes that were popular in the Pittsburgh, PA area. There's a fairly high profile US dealer that must have LOADS of copies of the "Love Doll" white demo 45. He's selling them for $20 each and I've been buying it for years off him in batches of 3-5 at a time. Do a google search for the label and catalogue number and you'll find it in the top-10 of the result list.
  15. Just to collect all scans in one place... here's my odd solid centre styrene US issue (also not for sale, I'm afraid):
  16. A copy sold for $565 on eBay in March this year. So definitely a "mid-3 figures" sound at least.
  17. That Wild Honey 45 is a fantastic record in my opinion. Both sides are good. Very seldom turns up for sale as well.
  18. Does it exist on an orange label MINIT issue? The only orange copies I've seen of this have been reissues on the BANDY label. The black label copies of "Fortune Teller" is the original issue as far as I know, but this 45 was pressed at several different plants at the same time. Here are two of them:

Hahaha! I have honestly never really listened to the lyrics! "the problem was that within your daddys life, he had a daughter who today is your wife, now you have my blessings son and try to understand that's life!" Odd indeed.

"Mr. Slick" is a decent mid-tempo latin soul workout and "Sabre Olvidar" is a spanish language salsa tune. Neither are earth-shattering in my opinion. Their "That's Life" on COTIQUE 160 is great though!
  21. I absolutely love that one. Surprised it's still there, definitely not one of his easier releases.
  22. It's a very, very common 45. £20 is the highest price I have ever seen it listed for. Available on both 12" and 7" and both are easy to find. Lots of US dealers has got stock of this 7". It was probably the soundclip that sold it.
  23. No, it's a totally different tune.
  24. POUNDING King Tutt-ish dancer with lots of potential IMO. Still seems to be unknown to a lot of people. Have a listen:
