  1. they have indeed Mike. dunno what the problem is for some folk, its only a beer fer gawd sake. too many folk laugh at gimmicks, but as you say, it sold well and probably was/is a fine real ale heres our (unopened) presentation pack, had it bloody ages.
  2. I heard it on Radio2 today, now i know why. it was an anthem for us 18 yr olds in 1980, very sad news indeed

my 2 good friends who sadly left us a few years ago. great lads who are still talked about fondly Kev 'Charlie' Charles (left), Pete Knight (middle) .... yes thats me on the right. on the Huntingdon train going to St Ives, late 70's
  4. I lived there from early '78 until mid '81 (started month before my 16th birthday). never missed an all dayer or the later niters during that time. it didnt matter what music was played (witihn reason ), there was no split in the scene. they played it all . a wonderful venue. i have fond memories of seeing Jnr Walker there too. GREAT ! IAN

St Ives Nottm Palas Wigan Casino St Ives.... i caught the tail end when i was 15, so with that being my first 'Niter' experience, it will always be my fave. Nottm palais was a wonderful venue, I practically lived there from 78 -82. Casino was intimidating to a 17 yr old, but what an atmosphere !!! My fave night for me is a toss between seeing Curtis Mayfield at Alfreton and the Ric Tic revue . ( The Torch 25th anniv at Kings hall was quite special too) IAN
  11. Percy Wiggins - it didnt take much (simple, cheesy, but quality) Odyssey - Native new yorker (if you're a drummer you'd understand- if not , still a magnificent record and possibly my fave) Willie Kendricks - change your ways ..... (for the sheer dynamics) IAN
  12. There are a few collector's of Wigan Casino memorabillia, but they don't go to Soul night's, With most collectables, if someone really want's something, they are prepared to pay a high price.........................just look at some of the rare original vinyl Debbie x
  13. i sold 6 of mine in a job lot a couple of yrs ago, got £140 for them !. the M's patch will command the most from that little lot. if you sell, make sure they go seperate, you'll get more that way
  14. This is a very rare piece of memorabillia...........We dont want to put it on a bag (in case it gets nicked), so we'd like an idea of current 'worth' . i know that things are worth what folk are prepared to spend, but its time to decide on its' future . any thoughts? Also, we have a complete set (5) of 'Northern Noise' mags, any ideas of current value/demand ?
  15. Soul Sam, Notttm Palais (late 70's).. " listen to this, Zena Foster , What a Record" Gerri Thomas, 'look what I got' cover up
