  4. sad times.... the soundtrack to our lives, will soon be memories. Rest in peace, Mr Strong. you were there from the start, but your legacy will live on.

  7. i have : 1070 Jnr Walker 1017 David Ruffin 1083 Stevie Wonder 1002 Sisters love
  8. The Jewel in the Motown crown. handful of releases, but every one , memorable and adored. very sad news
  9. i remember Flamma Sherman , vividly. a Grantham lad, played it at our local do's. master plan, i remember that too. Phantom janitor (Deadbeats, awful record) and others. 77 was when i started, so these records were a part of that. anyone remember Teddy Pendergrass 'you cant hide from yourself' and The Emotions 'best of my love' getting spins ?
  10. i understand totally..... but if the seller refuses to pay for tracking, its a difficult scenario (which happens)
  11. i had the exact same , in the late 70's . the buyer is trying to pull a fast one ! if you refund, there may be a big chance you aint getting the record back
  12. first song in dance comp, was Sandi Sheldon . the song you refer to was most likely 'Little Queenie' Bill Blacks combo or the Champion. who knows 🤫
  13. £14 to get into a soul night ? i know its a fiver in advance (if you're lucky), 9 quid normal ticket (which is bad enough).... but 14 is quite obscene, sorry, just my opinion.
  14. £150 foir Duke Browner? i must have missed the boat. Flame n king, even higher? yikes!
  15. i'd want 600 quid for my set, as a job lot Betty Boo is £100 on a bad day, £120 most days Dena Barnes : £70 easily The Delites: £80-100 Duke Browner : £80-100 Nabay: £70 plus Lester Tipton, Tomangoes, Al Williams, all go over 50 Flame n King, has gone crazy, i reckon someone would pay 80 quid, if they wanted it. these are prices are what ive seen, Pete Smith sells them at the lower price bracket, but most sell round about what ive put above. I'm sure folk will disagree, but believe me, if you want them, you have to pay for em.
  16. Saddened to the core ! was so looking forward to seeing him in blackpool, next september , but ... memories stay with you. even now, i can see/hear him, on that little stage, upstairs at Station road. RIP , a legend of the Scene.
  17. i jumped on it, immediately. paid £40 for a Series 3, TV200 (true story), didnt get the log book, until i'd paid in full (4 weeks). had a few rides on it, then promptly swapped it for a Sharp music centre (another true story). who incidentally is still a good mate, who i see only at Brid weekender . i did carry on with dressing that way, for a while, 2 tone suits, loafers, etc... even now, i wear Harrington jackets and desert boots. love the MOD culture !
