  1. i understand totally..... but if the seller refuses to pay for tracking, its a difficult scenario (which happens)
  2. i had the exact same , in the late 70's . the buyer is trying to pull a fast one ! if you refund, there may be a big chance you aint getting the record back
  3. first song in dance comp, was Sandi Sheldon . the song you refer to was most likely 'Little Queenie' Bill Blacks combo or the Champion. who knows
  4. £14 to get into a soul night ? i know its a fiver in advance (if you're lucky), 9 quid normal ticket (which is bad enough).... but 14 is quite obscene, sorry, just my opinion.
  5. £150 foir Duke Browner? i must have missed the boat. Flame n king, even higher? yikes!
  6. i'd want 600 quid for my set, as a job lot Betty Boo is £100 on a bad day, £120 most days Dena Barnes : £70 easily The Delites: £80-100 Duke Browner : £80-100 Nabay: £70 plus Lester Tipton, Tomangoes, Al Williams, all go over 50 Flame n King, has gone crazy, i reckon someone would pay 80 quid, if they wanted it. these are prices are what ive seen, Pete Smith sells them at the lower price bracket, but most sell round about what ive put above. I'm sure folk will disagree, but believe me, if you want them, you have to pay for em.
  7. Saddened to the core ! was so looking forward to seeing him in blackpool, next september , but ... memories stay with you. even now, i can see/hear him, on that little stage, upstairs at Station road. RIP , a legend of the Scene.
  8. i jumped on it, immediately. paid £40 for a Series 3, TV200 (true story), didnt get the log book, until i'd paid in full (4 weeks). had a few rides on it, then promptly swapped it for a Sharp music centre (another true story). who incidentally is still a good mate, who i see only at Brid weekender . i did carry on with dressing that way, for a while, 2 tone suits, loafers, etc... even now, i wear Harrington jackets and desert boots. love the MOD culture !
  9. Leon Haywood is a nice find .
  10. over the moon !! little gem, of a club. 3rd visit here, looking forward to it
  11. legend .. a guy who fused jazz & soul , to give us a sound track of dance music. Wade in the Water , is a staple of soul clubs, every where, but this little ditty, takes me back to the Bali Hai, downstairs at Nottm palais, late 70's / 80. the fabulous colaboration with Stevie Wonder . Spring High RIP , a musical genius
  12. if you wanna sell those.... i could use them, to replace a few of mine
  13. there are musical giants, Curtis Mayfield, Van McCoy, JB, Smokey, etc etc. among that list, is Lamont Dozier ! a True genius , his arrangements in the studio, turned songs into masterpieces. awful news, im saddened.
  14. THIS ! its all 'pop' music, the only difference:- some were commercially succesful, some were'nt ....
  15. same as the above post, our 'youthy' was where we heard records for the first time. our peers would bring their records to the side room, we had a good system to play them on and we had a lot of people, week in week out, dancing to these sounds. i heard songs ranging from: susan coleman, to james coit, to the ellingtons, to the Capreez. we had a bloody good thing going. when you're 15 and itching to go to a proper venue, believe me, these nights got you buzzing. i dont mind admitting it......
  16. cant argue with the above (Sooty) , well said
  17. i can name quite a few.... but i best not
  18. seen it fetch crazy money... £30 is par for the course. . good record, regardless of its' chart history. (not at a Northern soul event tho, please)
  19. im sure it has.... but in the deep south ?
  20. i have a good mate, in 'Bama.... gonna ask her to scour record shops, for a certain UNITY single
  21. on a side note, i had 3 copies of candi, late 70's . i have no idea to this day, if they were bootlegs, originals or any other flavour. i sold the last of the 3 to billy, for a tenner.
  22. whoever paid over 500 quid for jerry naylor, needs a head shake. absolute garbage. .... please, DO NOT say its a good record, in any way shape or form. its dross !! the video confirms it.... jeeeez .
  23. Rushbrooke........ not sure who discovered/first played it. but Gary certainly made it part of his sets, on station road and beyond
  24. cant speak for any, except the 'Charity Soul' event. these have run in conjunction with the weekenders, for years. (George hotel, as well.... i think). Bridlington is always popular, at the Windsor hotel. it does nothing to detract from the Spa... its good to get out n about, you have a wristband, youve paid, so free to roam the town and do what you please. same goes for the Buck Inn, Whitby. its always rammed, always popular , but most of all, it raises money, for something that every man may need , at some point. Most come and go, but spend most of their time in the 'main event' and go home happy. whats not to like ?
