  1. Get him to contact the UK dealers over here and they will sell the Tumble Dryer as an original US issue
  2. Spot on Andy. I was a bit more polite in my comment about sound files 'leveling up the knowledge' of some to those who have done the hard yards. Great to hear the word 'Div' again, I haven't used that since the 70's Andy Mac
  3. Private bidder status was introduced (from memory) years ago because at one point in time you could see who you were bidding against and who had won. Many people were being 'tracked' as to what they were bidding on with other collectors essentially using their knowledge to obtain records. Ebay tried to eliminate this by making the bidders anonymous, as it was raised on some of their forums particularly by many here in the UK as I recall. Therefore I see no reason why they would keep Private Bidders in place now as it leaves the whole system open to abuse. The last time I sold a 45 a few years back on Ebay, something fishy went on with a PB, and to this day I still can't figure it out, but I know it happened It was a relatively cheap item fortunately.
  4. I agree with all the pre-internet comments about wants notebooks, tape swappers and all that stuff. Great fun. However, what about the early days of the internet. I remember joining Ebay over 20 years ago and buying stuff blind for 2 or 3 $ with shipping at $4 it was worth a punt and found some decent stuff and some garbage along with it, but it was great anticipating the post to see whether you'd bought a monster or dud. Also as there wen't many collectors on Ebay you could pick up some obscure rarities for little money. Dealers began popping up on line and they had little or no knowledge of soul music and again I had many fantastic finds at give away prices. Today they all seem Ebay savvy and the chances of any real bargains are few and far between. The biggest change I've seen is the introduction of the sound file. All those hours of making notes on records seen, heard and swapped on tape, all the knowledge of years of collecting, phoning the US dealers to listen to records etc, all became a waste of time, as the sound file "leveled" the knowledge and ultimately has in many ways driven the prices up.

I use NM, Ex, VG strict grading and I give a full description. 8. Didn't know it was an award Mal ! Did give you an up vote though for your troubles
  9. She also has an 'earthy' Northern cum R&B ish outing on Soul International called 'I dont care'. Relatively semi-known and most copies turn up with trashed labels - probably Katrina the cause. It has a guitar led backing so maybe Linda herself ? Andy
  10. Don't quote me Rick but I did have this many moons ago and seem to recall the flip "Oh Darling" was a ballad type thing but nothing that special. I like the slow stuff so I probably would have kept it if it was something. Andy
  11. Yes I thought they were dodgy Mal. Not thinking of buying just curious if they were boots or there had been a find by someone in Japan.
  12. Sorry if this has been covered. I noticed the other day that several copies of the above 45 were up for sale by a couple of Japanese sellers and ranged in price between $140 to $420 although the prices jump around daily. I emailed the seller to ask if they were genuine and the response was that the items have sold. However they are still there and up for sale. Genuine, boots, scamming ? Cheers Andy
  13. You need to send him a private message. Look for the envelope icon top right of your screen. Click on that and it pulls up a message box Type the name of the person your sending to in the correct box and then your title and message below and press send. It will go to him inbox and he will be notified. ATB Andy
  14. Wish I'd known Chalks. Gave away about 6 or 7 Wilton badges about a year ago. Found in a draw and forgot I had 'em. Drew
  15. Probably right. I've never used his auction. But 438 or 613 is just bonkers in my book at either price.
  16. Nev used to DJ at our local do at Inky Social Club, Chesterfield mid week around late 70's. He's ask if we were going up to the KGB Dance Center all-nighter on the Saturday. We agreed what train we'd catch and he'd collect us from Sheffield train station when we arrived and drive us to the venue. Top bloke.
  17. Nope £438.....the poster is from Europe so he probably means €600.
  18. £438 for Bottom & Co ?
  19. Still got plenty of them covering the 45's !!. Still got his catalogs and lists also as they are a great reference. The prices make you want to weep now tho' .....bargains galore.
  20. Correct. If VAT has been paid RM cannot demand their £8 to collect it.
  21. VAT should be collected at the point of sale. So Ebay will collect this via the seller. You should not have to pay anything on your package at entry to the UK. If you have paid VAT no need to declare low value.
  22. Not sure about that Chalky. The lads from the local sorting office I know have told me that its been chaotic for sometime with the amount of parcels flowing through. Its all the internet ordering and it doesn't all go through the couriers as RM have lots of contracts in place with the big firms. Drew
  23. The VAT rules state that goods + postage = Value, so Ebay are required to include postage in the overall calculation of VAT if they intend to collect it.
  24. I like the 45 but it says something on Discogs about subscription only ?? Not sure what that means at all?
  25. I Have a Val Shively record catalog from around '74 with the Silhouettes as a 45 rpm sales item for a couple of $. Not sure if this indicates anything but obviously was being sold separately to the LP.
