Indie Wholesale Distributor Stock Gone
yeah, this is terrible news, a lot of good labels lost stuff.

Clark Bridges - Foxy - C.j. Records
how the hell has this gone through the roof? makes the one that went for $50 or whatever last year seem like a steal what happened in the last 18 months to blow this up??

Obscure - unusual Foreign Releases
This is the standard New Zealand Decca label, not Australia. Rhythm Rendezvous is still open in Papatoetoe but the Newmarket location is long gone. They used to be a Instrument & Record store but now are just Instruments.

Manships Auction Results ! What
What I want to know is if when shopping for records, Manship has ever had one of his price guides pulled out & used on him by record store employees? That would be pretty funny. JM: How much for these old soul 45s? Store Clerk: Hold on a minute while I get the price guide..... JM: ...................... An acquaintance on another record collecting forum, said that Manship came through his store in the US buying 45s a while back & he so badly wanted to whip out the price guide but just couldn't bring himself to do it

Sam & Dave - (Artist Of The Week)
what is the King 45? I don't think I'ver ever seen that. I have the Alston 45 & a Roulette LP as far as the early S&D stuff goes.

Mar-V-Lus
this is wrong edit: should read the rest of the thread before posting anyway, with the earlier titles which appear on both the explosion (either color variation) & the flag design. the flag copies are indeed 2nd press, legit but still later than the explosion label copies. There is an Alvin Cash 45 at least from memory (might be Twine Time) which is an example of this. Doesn't seem to alter the price much though on those titles.

Nolan Chance On Bunky. How I Found This Ultra Rare 45
yeah, phone the guy & politely ask about the records every 6 months until he changes his mind...... or tells you to never call him again. It's the only way.

Nolan Chance On Bunky. How I Found This Ultra Rare 45
doesn't sound like a bad score for country town australia !! how much did you pay for the lot? hopefully you hooked the poor shop owner up with a bit more than $1 for the Nolan Chance

Getting Emotional About Paper Sleeves
If the original sleeve is tattered I will ditch it & replace with a new plain one. If it is just split on the seams then I'll tape the seams up & leve them together. I like the concept of 45s staying with their original company sleeve (plain ones don't bother me to discard quite as much), but if the sleeve is unsalvageable then I have no issues with replacing it.

Eugene (Gene) McDaniels R.I.P
Yep, sad news, a great figure who was involved in a lot of stuff. To go from his early Liberty stuff like "Hundred Pounds Of Clay" to the Atlantic stuff "Headless Heroes" & "Outlaw" is a impressive transition. Also wrote some key stuff for others. RIP.

Contours "hit And Run"

Fixing Warped 45's
You need to realize what sort of warp it is first. Heat/Pressure warps where the grooves themselves aren't bent sideways will usually flatten out again fine using the oven method. If it is a straight heat warp where the record hasn't been under pressure & just allowed to warp as it likes then the grooves have usually lost their form (the warped vinyl may look rippled) as well & this sort of warp is not reversable. If you try to play the warped record & the needle jumps straight up then it should be repairable but if it kicks off to the left or right then it's eternally lost. I have had success using the oven method but each oven is different & don't overbake the record, you also need something to offset the height of the label against the grooves so the pressure actually gets to the playing surface. The best rule is to not buy warped in the first place or if you can get it to track with a heavier weight just leave it be.

The Biggest Insult On Here
I think I might actually be dumber now for having read through 5 pages of this dribble. Thanks Bob for stirring this old chestnut up again....... This debate is like red rags to Bulls & always gets some character like "SOE" all out of shape. There is never any winner, just arguments.

Blind Boys Of Alabama
Blind Boys are still sounding ok, not as great as a few years back & they are definitely missing Clarence Fountain as far as another strong lead personality goes. But well worth catching. Added bonus is that you get to see "Bobby Purify #2" (Ben Moore) who is one of the lead vocalists with them now.

"misspentyuf" Ebay Seller Issues?
just looked them up on ebay, this "Chris" character is possibly legit since there's nothing particularly valuable or rare listed, just a bunch of common UK & US press soul 45s by the looks. prob first 3 pages here

"misspentyuf" Ebay Seller Issues?
if you've already said you have the records still & he has filed a police report & obviously has proof you got the records from the stolen lineage, then the cops will take them & return them to the original owner. there is no way he can know you bought them without either being the original seller himself (under an alias) or having legally pressured the thief for details of who they onsold them to & then down the line who they sold them to. ebay hides your user name from view when you win stuff usually. he could have gotten it by trolling through your ebay feedback though i suppose. it's a weird one for sure. i'd be interested in how it pans out.
