  1. Is it the same record as the Volcanos? Ed
  2. I'd be listening to the radio all day! Love the Major. Ed
  3. Fascinating stuff. When I'm in the US, I always try and tune into the oldies stations, and it's amazing what gets played. Not super rare Northern, but plenty of lower national chart tracks, and local chart hits of the day. Probably all mp3 or cd tracks though! Ed
  4. Top dance record.. Ed
  5. A Tenerife sunset.. Ed
  6. Good for you! Middle of nowhere, but punched above its weight in terms of breaking sounds. Ed
  7. The real deal. I love it and hate it, and just wish I had a copy Ed
  8. Quick feet needed.. Ed
  9. Nice lyrics. Can't imagine why it was not a number one Ed
  10. Was this played at the Mecca? Or earlier. Ed
  11. We are in complete agreement that this mix has brilliance and mediocrity included. Emphasising the positive is simply good manners. What goes in what box is where it's unlikely any two northern soul fans will agree 100%. Hence why I chose 'some ' great tunes in my analysis, which after much debate we both 100% agree on. TSWONS. Ed
  12. I thought mvps was later than the pier. Ed
  13. Interesting...Dave Godin's term ' Northern Soul ' was apparently coined in 1970. I was first exposed to it 2 years later as an 11 year old whilst hanging around a youth club called the' disc' in Conisbrough where Jimmy Radcliffe, Jerry Williams, and Fontella Bass were played week in week out. 3 years later, I was going to the Four Seasons in Scarborough, the Winter Gardens in Cleethorpes, etc etc, and thought I'd got a good idea what constituted Northern Soul. Still, it's nice to get educated by someone more qualified in these matters. Ed
  14. Alt version even more Latino.. Ed
  15. Bought this, on this label around 77 in a Scarborough junk shop. Its a had a few moments of popularity over the years. Ed
  16. Is there a 'Northern scene or popcorn scene' in Sarf Merica? Their dancing is quite exquisite.. Ed
  17. Back to cleggy... Ed
  18. Loved this for yonks Ed
  19. Define some? Its not all, it's not most, and it's not none. So you think that impressions, Jimmy reed, ripple blast singers, magnetics, and the vows tracks are no good? Shocking taste... Ed
  20. Some reet good tunes on that mix... Ed
  21. Must have been great times back then. You folks who were there should share your memories. Only ever seen Peter on TV and what a life he led! RIP Ed
  22. A sad loss. A fascinating career. Big memories of you know how to love me at Leeds Central. Great album also. RIP. Ed
  23. I'm sure we've all got a favourite tune that everybody else can't stand. I'm with Roburt on this artist though. Just plain bad. Spoils a good song. Like me doing Karaoke..... Ed
