  1. I've been referring to it as the Sealed Knot Soul Scene for a few years now......................there are immense similarities between the Sealed Knot and the Northern Soul revivalist thing.
  2. I remember Mick Webb ("Cockney Mick") did an article and interview with Gil Askey for Blackbeat way back early 80s when he was touring the UK with somebody as their musical arranger and conductor (think it was the Four Tops or one of the Motown legends). Mick told me then that he was the favoured arranger and band director for a lot of the Motown acts - apparently Diana Ross would not do anything without Gil Askey being involved.
  3. If anyone has one and willing to part company, please PM me. Thanks.

  12. I win. Now to sort out Pete Smith.
  13. Well, we shall see, bearing in mind I put it on a CD for her and her Mum last year. Lev did say she likes the record.
  14. No, I don't have bad taste. You do.
  15. No it isn't.
  16. Listen Smith, when the day of reckoning comes, not even your extensive collection of crackly live Wigan tapes will save you from soulful damnation.....................
  17. As fine an example of the Big City sixties soul sound and male group vocal as you will ever hear. A superb record - it is indeed deeply unfashionable, but a superb record nonetheless; musically sophisticated, beautifully produced, orchestrated and performed. Probably why it divides opinion - too sophisticated for the on-the-fours Northern brigade; too sixties and Big City for the crossover mob and no wah-wah guitar for the funky crowd. Some folk may not like it, but it is most definitely not "a rubbish record" or "a shit record", nor is it "a bad tune". I now await the tsunami of counter opinion to crash over me. By the way, it is not Sammy Campbell on lead.
  18. Clarence Ashe is a bargain - great spin for Doctor Pickles.
  19. The Rivingtons is a brilliant underplayed record.
  20. Still wanted.
  21. That is cheap for an EX copy...........bargain for a VG copy even.
