  1. A young lad I have met who has started collecting Soul 45's picked up the September Jones on Canadian from a Charity Shop in Hamilton for 50 cents.
  2. Kitchener, Ontario Record Show this morning I found a copy of Barbara Mason - Aint Got Nobody - Canadian Arctic - plain Blue label with Arctic in small letters across top? Anybody else seen a Canadian Arctic? Cost $2.
  3. Hi Dave Mili is well, thanks for asking, have a good day out at Wemberley. I have had at least a dozen Little Carl Carltons and 4 or 5 Rain's. The last Carl Carlton cost me $1 at the Niagara Fall Show and I havent paid more than $4 for the Rain. Neither of them seem to sell well. These do seem to turn up quite often at shows. I will dig some of the more interesting one's out and list 'em.
  4. I have been here for 10 years and have found loads of stuff on Canadian and arguably Canadian should be rarer simply based on population. Canada still only has 33 million or so people. Not sure I agree with Benji's statement about second issues either. I am constantly being surprised with what I have found and I have things like Little Charles on Canadian Decca, Alexander Patten, Helen Troy on Canadian Kapp, Ketty Lester on Canadian Black Rca, I have the Etta James mentioned at the start of the thread and loads of classic Motown like the Linda Griner, Eddie Holland - Outside Looking In etc etc. I can remember one of the first "junk" shops I went into and found a Gloria Jones on Capitol, it was battered beyond belief but there went the "Im not going to start collecting again". I am currently picking up the Detroit stuff like Precisions on Stone, the Reo stuff and the Canadian Ric Tic on a nice Purple label. I also have a Deon Jackson on Canadian Carla, nice looking white label.
  5. Unfortunately I come back from every record show with a handful of things bought blind. In fact most of the dealers hold onto boxes of stuff for me and if they want $1 or $2 I will take them. Recently I bought a 4 track 45 with 2 songs on 1 side by The Professor? and 2 on the other side by Lotsa Poppa? Label is Lotta Soul, anybody know it? The songs are all Southern Soul type tunes but not bad. I end up with a lot of Psych and Garage things but some of these sell for good money although I do have 3 boxes of crap (mainly Country) that will be sold to a guy who repairs and sells jukeboxes.
  6. I have a US and Canadian Sue copy. I will dig them out but from memory condition is vg+ on both.
  7. I dont usually go to the Niagara Falls show as it has been pretty poor lately but as the wife and son are in UK I thought I would, and it was on a Saturday this time. All I can say is f**k me, I came home with these amongst loads more: Wade Flemons - That Other Place - VeeJay promo Marcia Hines - You Gotta Let Go - Wizard Roy Hamilton - The Panic Is On - MGM Dean Jackson - Ill Always Love You - Shout Nolan Chance - If He Makes You - Constellation Marvin Ruffin - This Thing Called Love - Ruff Stuff Major Lance - Its The Beat - Okeh plus loads more by Little Carl Carlton, Katie Love, The Furys, Dee Dee Warwick on Hurd and Blue Rock, Connie McGill & Visions, The Cobras, Nancy Butts, Ronnie McNeir, The Vel Tones, Mike & Censations, Marion Black, Walter Jackson, The Invitations, Milton Wright, JJ Barnes, The Ballads, The Coalitions, Chuck Wright, Percy & Them, Tony Drake, Freddie Gorman, Little Anthony, Russ Lewis and the usual pile of Motown, stuff I dont know but sounds interesting. The guy only bought one box and I have the second box lined up at the next show he sells at in June. Also bought the Dee Dee Warwick album with the storming UK only 45 Worth Every Tear I Cry on it. This follows on from the Toronto Show where I got the Trini Lopez on United Modern - $1, Levon and the Hawks - $1 and Terrible Frankie Nieves - $10
  8. I had a lovely Black Island Canadian issue of I Am A Man went through ebay last week, went to a Russian bloke.
  9. I have a copy, nice clean labels, grades vg+ish. PM your offer if you are interested.
  10. The Leroy and the Drivers is Blow Wind/L-O-V-E on Near Mint Canadian Coral.
  11. I dont buy blind on ebay anymore but I regularly buy blind at record shows, usually at $1-$2 each. Recently I have got The Catalinas on Scepter and a nice one by the Dittos which I cant make my mind up about. Every now and then I turn up a rare Doo Wop or Garage thing that generates a bit of cash. On the down side, I am looking at a small pile of 45's by The Mustangs, The Fames, Leroy and the Drivers, The Starlets, Special Delivery Verve promo, The Challengers, Sweet Slice Of Life plus more.

  18. Hi I have an Ellie Greenwich, however it is a bit noisy. I will dig it out in the next couple of days and give it a play and get back to you.
  19. Saw her last year in Hamilton, Ontario as support to Buddy Guy, she was superb. We left after Buddy's second song as I had seen what I was there for!! - again, superb.
  20. Another alternative is to get matey with someone who has one. I know a young collector who has one and he cleans 45's for me now and then. Slightly off topic, has anybody seen the Record Flattener? Guy in a store in Toronto has one and he swears it works. I am going up in a couple of weeks with a couple of warped 45's to give it a try. He charges a couple of $$ but it has got to be worth it.
  21. I think I have one of these. I will dig it out today whilst you consider an offer. Kevin

Wasnt there another one, double album, called Black Power, I remember the wife had it when I first met her but it was absolutely trashed. Slightly off track, is there any value to the MFP albums by Smokey Robinson and Marvin Gaye, any un-released tracks on there? She has themn somewhere along with the Big Wheels Of Motown album.
  23. I have had 3 of these and all have jumped on Deadbeats track, is this similar with all copies?
  24. Did this ever come as a White Promo? I remember many years ago being offered a Sticker promo but as I wanted White Promo's only I passed. I know have an issue.
