Johnnie on the spot, Dennis Edwards.
You lost a clean decade there mate, It was 80 / 81 . Sam was first to play, I'm trying to remember what the cover-up artist was .... Hmm? Oh, and Rushy had it not long after (I think)

The 'upfront scene' ?
287 (plus or minus 4 because of 'same night' event plays), any deviation from this is reported back to us, if the inner circle of the KNSO deems by a majority of 3, the said record is permitted a further 63 spins at no less than 8 venues and not to exceed 12 weeks (10 weeks if it a bank holidays falls within this timescale). Any breaches are reported back to the KNSO and soul police are mobilised. I thought everyone knew this?

Stolen record
So hope your friend has fortune in recovering his record and sleeve. It's such a sickening feeling when this happens and is tainted further by it happening among our community whom we trust so much because we share so much. I have had this happen to me, I later found it to be a very well known and respected DJ that has been on the scene for many many years. When I found out, I didn't do anything about it, I felt pity for him. I realised it was not the loss of the record that upset me, it was the betrayal by one of our own. I learned that it's not the records that are important, its the people and our faith in them that truth will always prevail.

KARMELLO BROOKS
Hi Alan, IMO its another one of those cases where a record is worth exactly the amount of at which someone is prepared to pay and someone else is prepared to sell. Records that are scarce but very likeable or in vogue, can sell for a lot more than their rarity would suggest, mainly because there just isn't the liquidity of that particular record in the market. Classic 'hard' (but not very rare) records do this all the time, because once in collections they are seldom let go of. An example of this might be Mel Britt for instance, an amazing classic of musical quality and affection among punters, and not common in the slightest, but certainly not in the heavyweight list of very rare records. My thoughts are that the Milestone 45 is another one of these types of records. The question is always "What would you be prepared to pay?", and the answer to that question is what it's worth to you. The Tribulations
Mouldy confirmed on a previous post that The Tribulations carries the delta number 84187. So it does seem a 1971 press. Does anyone know the delta or days of press of the other Shelly 45s? Notwithstanding the credits, are we sure the two sides are really the same artist?
-
The Tribulations
I don't have the table of monarchs delta numbers past '69, but it certainly isn't a 60's press. Extrapolating the production run rate volume, overlaying seasonality, it appears to have been released in January 1971.

The Tribulations
Thats right, both records, the FBR and the Shelly 45. Both came from a dealer in Ohio, (i'm aware the Shelly 45 was laid down on the west coast), neither was in mint condition, 2 copies of FBR 1 copy of the Tribs. I think the spare FBR may have gone to someone in Burnley, the Shelly 45 was traded for an unreleased uptempo thing by the Geminis on RCA. I've only seen it 3 times since then one on ebay about 3 years back and another couple about a month ago. Always thought it may be quite rare, has it turned up or something? Would you mind checking the matrix stamp to see what year it was pressed? Cheers

The Tribulations
It's an old Burnley Nighter record, I played it a few times back then. I believe it may well to be 'The Foreign Blue Renaissance', both records came to me from the same source, allegedly an ex group member via a dealer.

What is this?
Must be getting really old!! Anyone put the disc to these lyrics. "this time you're gonna take the count of ten" "love is gonna step right up, and do you in" Seem to think its a slowish female crossover track on a yellow label? Maybe? Cheers, Andy

Blimey Andy, your memory is pristine, and here it is, the elusive white demo. Val's old copy via John Anderson. I don't think issues ever happened.

Frank Elson has a pop at Top Djs and Collectors
Come on Frank, spill the beans. What is that cover-up record that you've recently heard a top rich nazi DJ play, which is obviously the greatest record you've heard in years and which is filling you with all this sense of lack, jealousy and frustration? Don't worry you're not missing out on anything because anyone with a "good ear" will find it in one of those £10 cheapie boxes before too long. Who is Frank Elston anyway? I'm not being sarcastic, it's an honest question. In life, we only see what we are projecting out.

Lovelites On Bandera
Most probably now. Robb K, should us elders, really unless asked, give light to the origins of discs gone by? Maybe there is said for them finding them out for themselves.
