Could you post up some YouTube clips of Northern Soul U.S. style I would be interested to know what type of soul music this is , I know what Southern Soul is and sounds like . Never once in my 60 years have I heard the terminology referred to any type of soul music in the U.S. , Northern Soul just been a title given to a wide spectrum of uptempo soul music played in the UK.

Pleasant enough record but more of a bride and groom wedding smooch song than a soul record to my ears .

When this comes on it always reminds me of a Gilbert O'Sullivan record .

It is not on the London label though is it Glen it is a bootleg and done by stupid bootleggers at that.

Thanks for sharing the information that this record plays 'JJ Barnes' instead of 'Darrell Banks' , if anyone bought it and did not like the 'Barnes' version they could frame it I suppose

People do want to buy them and till the market drops this activity will continue , these sort of boots though con no one I suppose and it is just a sideshow to the scene that most people on here relate to.

Sounds like Timi , but I would have thought if this information was mentioned on back of LP sleeves it would be a well known fact to fans of hers and would be mentioned in Timi Yuro bios.

I get that too Ian, but after seeing so many of our artists make nothing at all and leave the industry broke and disillusioned , to see someone like Candi still in the business after all these years makes me happy and good luck to her and the other survivors.

Made a few more recordings to help pay her bills maybe ? just because we think it does not fit in with our image of a soul singer, making money is what a professional artist is all about.

If he takes that he has got a good deal out of a bad one I get the feeling though it will be declined .

I think we have all bought soul packs in the past and knew that for the few good items we might receive the majority would be fillers . I do not condone selling thrashed records but for anybody to spend £1000 on a soul pack is extremely naïve , trying a smaller pack first might have made more sense when buying the unknown.

Any idea why people are/were prepared stupid money for this boot other than its rare on an original and a great record but so are many other booted records. Got one upstairs in a box somewhere which I bought in the 70s I would assume it is this boot .

Been engrossed the last few days with the Levine Soul Pack debate but now Maslar has come on and it seems to be developing into the same as the threads on the political forum now defunct , which Masler seems to put a new slant on everything to just provoke reaction .

I would be very surprised if this album got released on Truth , the Shirley Brown LP got out at around the same period and the single was a hugh smash the last big one for Stax , maybe Stax just pushed the Brown lp and just left the Wright Lp in the can due to the similar style of the two singers and material. Maybe they intended to release the album at a later date but before that Stax imploded.

Your taste in music must have been pretty dire at that time Ian to let those two go

Don't know much about licensing but if the record was a reissue would it not have been licenced from Stax/Fantasy and not David Johnson Broadway productions which it was ?

The authenticity of the poster was brought into question a few years ago on this site , maybe that was the reason to Macca's post.

I think I know where you coming from as someone who regards the album from a scene sort of thing , but someone like myself who listens to music from a armchair it was a bloody godsend , I still rate it as a classic album and always will .
