  1. Sorry for hijacking this thread. But seeing that Nothing but a heartache was written and produced by two Brits, is it actually a british production? Might be old news to most of you but not to me if it was.
  2. Not sure if Voices is a boot, for sure it's not a first press. According to Discogs "3w" but no ARCHER stamp copies are originals: "Originals also exist without the matrix stamp but taken from the same master plate. These have the same 3w mark in the run-out" https://www.discogs.com/de/release/2110059-Eddie-Parker-2-Billy-Sha-Raes-Soul-Congress-Band-Love-You-Baby Any idea what the "3w" mark actually looks like?
  3. As said before Midniters was before Servicemen and everything but boring. Wonderful full blown vocal group lowrider tune.
  4. Quite a nice tune. Amateur-ish production but haunting in a way. But is it really that good to be covered up? Not for me.
  5. Original version is by Gene McDaniels and unreleased at the time isn't it?
  6. It's not just the line ups of those shows that I find amazing, it's also design and layout of the posters. Awesome. From a design perspective my favourites are the Soul Turkey Show and Battle of the Soul Groups. What's yours?
  7. Fun fact: The scan of "my heart will understand" in the respective Discogs entry is clearly vinyl: https://www.discogs.com/de/release/4673995-Linda-Jones-I-Just-Cant-Live-My-Life-Without-You-Babe-My-Heart-Will-Understand
  8. Doris & Kelley rather cheap when compared to what it went for last time on Discogs. Hesitations W/D album is just insane. As I type there's a copy on Discogs in similar condition for 160 quid less, from the UK. Anthony Hall was quite cheap. Very hard record. And a monster Popcorn sound.
  9. Blue Rock was distributed by Mercury. Maybe the switched the release from local label to major label at the very last second? I wouldn't be surprised if run out groove details of Blue Rock and Mercury presses are the same.

  11. Clydie King - Soft and gentle ways / He always comes back to me - Imperial (issue) €200 o.n.o. Vinyl in top nick (EX). label tiny bit wear and small number written on both sides (see pic). Price includes tracked worldwide shipping. Insurance available within EU. Payment Paypal only, F&F preferred but not mandatory.
  12. Thanks for the info. So there's a link between West Coast John Westley, Melic and Vivid. However, I'm still unsure about the Johnny Wesley release on Melic. It's credited to Johnny Mesley and the Four Tees. Lead singer on both side is not "our" John Westley, for sure. I listened to a few other Four Tees songs and the lead voice sounds similar to the Melic release. So my guess the Melic release it's either just the Four Tees (and they credited Johnny Wesley for whatever reason on the label) or Johnny is singing backing vocals. Maybe @Robbk can have a listen? He's pretty fit in identifying different voices.
  13. His full name is John Westley Moffett. Canterbury release "You're the one" was also released on Corsair with different flip. "You're the one" being different take/mix but definitely same singer. Canterbury, Renfro and Melic were all LA based labels. So there's a chance it's the same singer on all three labels. However, the singer on the Melic release is definitely not the same as on Canterbury and Corsair. Probably different artist. I couldn't find any sound file of the Renfro release. Do you have one to share? Vivid was a Chicago label according to Discogs. I listened to John Wesley "You're gonna miss me" and I'm sure its the same John Westley Moffett. No idea how a west coast artist ended up on a Chicago label. Couldn't find any info of the Crafmaster (Craftmaster?) release. Can you please share the details and if possible sound files? And last but not least I have no idea how and if the Quincy Jones Johnny Wesley somehow fits in. Any idea if the score was recorded in LA?
  14. Popsike lists 3 sparkels demos in 2021. What price for an issue?
  15. Etta James - wallflower was on the very first 6ts anniversary 45.
  16. Mel Williams and Big Maybelle both spins on the R&B scene. But are they played on the traditional NS scene? I doubt that. Or did they crossover to the NS scene?
  17. Just wondering, what's the 2022 definition of "progressive". From what I understand just a few years ago it meant, despite introducing unknown/new sounds, pushing the boundaries a bit and playing more funkier sounds that had been ignored before. Is this still valid?
  18. If you limit it to the "classic" NS scene the list is rather short. But if you widen scope to incorporate the R&B/New Breed R&B scene the list is endless 😀
  19. yes, to distinguish it from the blue label promo.
  20. I bet there is. Don't know how accurate it is, but according to Discogs United Artists purchased DCP in 1966.
  21. I found a pic of the W/D when I did a Popsike search. First I wasn't sure if it's really a genuine one. But it definitely looks like one. So I made a Discogs entry for it: https://www.discogs.com/de/release/21457177-Satin-Your-Loves-Got-Me-Say-You-Will
  22. That's why I was asking. Blue demo seems to be the most common one. Then blue issue. And I just learned that white demo also exists.
  23. Was Satin an issue or a demo?
  24. Discogs says,three M- W/D of Bobby sold in 2021 for 150 max.
