Well done Andy, just the kinda shit i used to get involved in (as you know)makes me smile take it all the way and continue to share, looking forward to part two Gilly and Nicola
  2. You know Neil back in 87 i was stopping at Popcorns house and because of that wonderfull guy managed to get me through Duke Browners house door,he told me that it was the Volumes who had recorded Lady In Green,on my return to the UK i was happy to share that information with anyone. This lead to many a person saying i was wrong(inc Dennis Coffy)now i knew this was fact so i had nothing to prove. So on the Prestatyn Stage.......the rest is history, and then what really pissed me off was the entire Volumes discography put into print as iff it where their story for the telling with no mention or credit given to those people who actually scourced the information. So its so easy and indeed sad for these guys to live off the back of others, but they get found out eventually

Early Wigan day's we used to stop at Knutsford but it started to get a bit dodgy so we hung back to Sandbach at least it was less hassel but not completely open ground. The guy you call stu maybe Stu Kent from near Hinkley(he is on hear)
  4. I don't know,some of you Nuneaton lads!
  5. Hi Paul,i used to have one, still there is only 4 known coppies.Value, well i think is how much your willing to pay,but first of all who out of the 4 lucky owners is going to sell.In my opinion iff someone will pay £9000 for a Don Gardener where would that put an Inspirations.Fantastic bit of kit though.Kind regards see you soon mate Gilly and Nicola
  6. Youve just reminded Ted,a few years ago in Hurts yard again upstairs got two coppies of (then unknown)The Blue Jays-Points of View. They cost me 35p each.
  7. A few years ago myself and Guy Hennigan found ourselves in Birmingham and with out much hope popped in Reddintons for a browse.I found a Wall of Sound -Hang On - and on further digging Guy pulled out a load of Cleveland Wilson 45s.Going further back in time on my way with some old flame to the sea-side stopped at one of the market towns Lincs/Norfork way and pulled out a Jimmy Mc'Farland (it had just started being played) 35p was the price,on handing the record over to me the shop owner noticed a small split on the "run-in"and promtly chucked it in the bin "cant sell you that mate its cracked"so i said "can you give it me then"?"yes was the reply, sorted.I also got some other fair stuff but my memory fails me as to what they were.
  8. You beat me to it mate
  9. Don't know the value but remember it being played for a while, maybe Clarkie and or Searling, can't fully recall.
  10. Maybe a little later than the era you mean but a few of us from Burton on Trent got chucked out of an alldayer for being naughty boys.

Do you know ive been shouting from the roof-tops for a long time now, these tossers who make money today from what they call singing.,dont seem to have any tallant what so ever.Example if anyone watched Paul McCartey on the Jools Holland new years show two years ago will understand,i felt embarrassed for him,i would of advised him to go home and we will contact him iff we can get some work in the working mens clubs. That clip ive just seen on utube is amazing,we need to find out who he is and then BOOK HIM. He can stop with me and Nicola anytime.JUST FANTASTIC

  17. I remember pulling up opposite the venue and there was this kick-off going on between some locals,we waited a little until we thought it had calmed down.As we got close to the door a guy was shouting at the top of his voice "come on you fuckers i love it"what was bizzar this guy was covered in blood,i think he had been hit over the head with a bat,i was thinking maybe its time you went home, youve had your share for tonight.

  24. Over the years and very few and far i have always tried to listen to acappello and indeed the backing tracks of our songs. Now many years ago i remember telling Dave Withers and Tim Finch that i used to play certain 45s on minimum 33rpm or with a variable speed deck around 38rpm doing this used to give me a deeper dimension to the song.So before you all fall on the floor laughing and if you have a Wind Hit orig as i did, go get it and try it.Another chance to hear one of the greatest northern tracks of all time in a differant way.so with this new cd on the horizon(and thanks Mark for making us aware of its comming)its yet another chance to listen from yet another angle.I swopped a few e mails a couple of years ago i dont know what they must of thought when i told them i named my cat Hadley after Mr Marrell(lived till he was 19)the cat that is. Our beloved Chalky gave me a copy of thier last cd but that wasnt our scenes type of music, shame
  25. You'd be surprised just how many white guys were on a studio recording and i dont just mean in the string section.
