  1. There are, but most of them are recent reissues (the original UK release was on Motown, not Tamla Motown)
  2. It goes in between your turntable and your computer, enabling you to record your vinyl to high quality audio files which can go on your portable devices just as well as downloads - and sound a lot better IMO
  3. No, but that's what these are for: https://www.artproaudio.com/products.asp?type=90&cat=13&id=128 Tho' I buy downloads of new stuff too - often you can get the video for not much extra, which is a bonus
  4. Very true - not so long back I bought the Chess Pieces compilation from iTunes Store, one of the tracks on it is Jackie Ross "Selfish One" which sounds rather harsh compared to my UK Pye 45 (even when said 45 was recorded and encoded to the same bitrate )
  5. https://www.imdb.com/name/nm2183795/
  6. Sure is, and it's on the same LP as disco hits "Think It Over" and "Warning Danger" which should make it easier to find...also I'm sure someone else did a version but can't for the life of me think who
  7. And here's another variant of this one - I imagine there were quite a lot of US demos sent out of major hits like this one, and thereby a good few variations. By the way, does anyone here know the story behind the red vinyl Motown demos of which there seem to have been quite a few?
  8. "Spaceland" was possibly inspired by the mini boom in sci-fi TV at the time (Star Trek and Lost In Space were both on air)
  9. Is that the one that was released as the Tandels on Kent (great version - and as the Kent 45 is the original release, can be played out as OVO n'est-ce pas)? Or is there yet another version? BTW for a really bad version, check out "At The Disco (Strings A Go Go)" dunno the artist but I think it was a tailormade on Black Magic
  10. Last 3 I played when I had an end of night spot: Gladys Knight and the Pips "Everybody Needs Love" Jackie Ross "Selfish One" Dianne Steinberg "One More Time"
  11. Willie Mitchell "The Champion" Velvets "I Got To Find Me Somebody" Yvonne Baker "you Didn't Say A Word"
  12. Thought that theory had been debunked some time ago?
  13. I'm with you on that Rod, in fact sometimes I wonder if haggling does more harm than good as sellers just increase ticket price as they expect people to haggle (not just records of course, I believe this goes on with houses and cars too)
  14. Covered up as Seventh Wonder....not heard that one in ages!
  15. Temptations - Just My Imagination (Running Away With Me) Diana Ross - I'm Still Waiting
  16. Let's not forget Mrs Mills(?) version of Lovers Concerto...on second thoughts, yes do forget it
  17. Awesome - surprised it's not more popular!
  18. Actually, I played it last month at Barrow Hill...on the subject of '70s instrumentals tho', it wasn't so long back that The Brothers "Are You Ready For This" was massive everywhere no?
  19. To settle the "metaphoric" issue, there is such a word in the Apple Dictionary but only as a derivative of metaphor:
  20. A version of Soul Coaxing was played by the BBC as testcard music back in the '70s and early '80s too
  21. From the modern side: High Frequency "Hot Fun In The Summertime"
  22. True - also, surely I'm not the only one who thinks this sounds like a poor imitation of Gonzales "Haven't Stopped Dancin' Yet"? My contribution to this thread: Wade Flemons "Janette" yeah, you can dance to it, but it doesn't seem to go anywhere to my ears
  23. At a guess, 'tis because the illusion can only last until someone goes up to the decks and sees a taped-on handwritten white label spinning round....
