  1. Creedence Clearwater Revival---I Heard It Through The Grapevine.I was once berated by Eddie Edmondson for playing it at a mate,s 50th.Happy days!
  2. How,s it going? Well, here in Crewe at the Crosville Club we,re coming up to 14 years(including a forced venue change).During that time we must have averaged about 130 and during the last 12 months 150/200.There is almost always a great atmosphere in a place that holds about 300, tops. Why does it seem to work and others fail? I have no idea! The music is fairly predictable, barring a few oddities, the punters are mostly local but there are some travellers and nearly always someone we,ve never seen before. As far as the number of events is concerned,I think there are too many using the same menu on the same week-end in the same area.
  3. I,m sure I bought this in New York in 2007,got it back home, decided I didn,t really like it that much and sold it for about £30,eventually! This is the first time I,ve seen or heard of it since.
  4. Plus another $100 to clean 45,s!! Looks like an updated version of the Discotron, does it play the record whilst cleaning it?

    P.M,D you.
  8. Haven,t The Willinghams got one of these? I,m sure I,ve heard them play it on more than one occasion.I can only presume it,s NOT the £8.99 copy!!!!!

Say you were at Prestatyn, this week-end,in the main room and the D.J.put on Little Queenie by Chuck Berry instead of Bill Black,s Combo or You,re Gonna Wreck My Life by Howlin, Wolf, not Guitar Ray in,say, the Redemption room.I suspect some of the reactions might help you in your quest!!! As far as I,m concerned it,s all variations on a theme.
  11. Phil Saxe had one in his sales box at The Hideaway in Manchester, last saturday. I don,t have any contact details for him but if you,re struggling I,ll try and find out.

    The Sapphires--Evil One.
  13. Not at all.Junior and I were both renowned for our sartorial elegance.
  14. Winter and Summer 1970.First the Twisted Wheel, watching Junior Walker in a bright orange, polyester suit ,from about 6ft.away,steam through a brilliant set. Then in August of that year spending a week in Rhyl (strange as that may now seem) going to the Palace, afternoon and evening, dancing to the tunes of the day. Whilst this may not seem to be particularly exciting written down here, the best word I can use to describe it is 'euphoric'.
  15. I don,t like 'Standing on solid ground' but I do like 'Holding on tighter' by Vivienne Courtland, which I think is an Ian Levine production.
  16. I am a big fan of R&B but having heard this for the first time,I quite like it and can understand why it would be popular in some circles. As for the price, whilst it,s way beyond my resources,it appears to have found it,s own level via the auction.Personally,I would rather empty the dance floor with this than fill it with something like"Standing on solid ground"or Benny Troy! As they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
  17. I have a copy of SOS 007 stamped 1st April 1985 on both sides. That would seem to fit your theory.
  18. 3-4p.m.would suit me personally.If this is O.K.put me down for that.If you,ve had a better offer,don,t worry I won,t take it to heart!
  19. Could do Sat.afternoon/early eve.I am out in Manchester Sat.night.
  20. Bought a copy of this tune, June 2011 in Vegas, along with 5 or 6 others, from Rich Rosen. In the grand scheme of things both he and I had it priced at about $100,more by luck than judgement I might add. Hope this helps.

Strangely enough the "Soul Beat" version was played at our "do" last night. Somebody remarked that it sounded like Pinky and Perky,s version. To be fair it did sound rather quick!
