Very sad news..

I'm not too keen on too much funk on a night out to be honest. I do like it in small doses, used to go to a lot of funk venues years ago but I've kind of gone off it over the years. I know there some funk tracks that have more of a soulful side to them but some of the stuff I hear on the rare occasions I leave the house is out and out funk no doubt about it..however you dress it up and say how it makes you feel inside. I get a lot of pleasure listening to David Bowie but he definitely isn't soul.

Dean who is doing this isn't coming in with zero idea of what the Northern Soul scene is about. Do you have to have a certificate signed by registered Northern Soulies to prove your "credibility" ? Most of you who are moaning aren't eligible anyway so what's your beef?

Yes, it was a wheel and Mod scene spin, I also think some djs speed it up as I've heard it played faster than how the 45 sounds at home.... I saw this thread last night and looked for my copy to play it but it's all but disappeared (if you saw my husbands's record room.you'd understand why I can't find it!). Forgot, Lee on here has a site called Mohair Sam...vintage mod type clobber:thumbsup: https://www.mohairsam.com/ . I do find that most of the vintage mens stuff tends to be of better/more authentic quality. It's so much more difficult finding (decent) ladies vintage or vintage style clothes. I totally struggle as I hate modern womens' clothes.. Try and find an original 60s vintage dress on ebay and you're more likely to get something that wouldn't look out of place on Margo from the Good Life or Yootha Joyce:lol:
