Richard Searling played The Kid in the main room on one occasion, when he'd just picked up a white demo copy. Judging by what I was doing and who I was hanging with at the time it will have probably been 1977 or early 78. East Rob on here may also remember. I don't think I missed a week during those years and I'm sure it was never played again.

..and my comment was just a gentle dig about the oft heard cliche regarding the huge effort involved in carrying LPs. Didn't realise that transport was an issue as deadly serious as original vinyl

Well if it's not him, whoever it was must have also recorded those sides on Celeste, Highland, Krafton, Shirley etc because they all sound like the same voice for sure.

The record shop I worked in stocked the multi-coloured issue as a new release. It was about a year later when I heard Sam play it at an all-dayer. In the meantime I'd put it on tapes for quite a few people but no-one like it much at the time. I think it was Rod Shard who ater tipped me off that it had started getting plays. I stuck it back in the sales box, crossed out £6, wrote £15 and flogged it straight away
