  1. Definitely my memory of KGB...does it ever sound fast now!...think we went up just after the closure of St. Ives.

Well, my US demo of Bill Harris "Am I cold am I hot" has the library stamp from the Voice of Peace pirate ship (anchored off the Middle East in the '70's) - came from a fellow radio presenter who worked on the ship for a while. I'd love to hear some of the stories of things got from the BBC record library - is my memory failing me or did Ady C gain access some years back?

Not quite, I've got The Cavaliers "I really love you" with heavy water damage - did that slip past you
  4. Well, it was...ummm....different to the big 'un, I've compared it before to a houseparty, far more room for chatting, good fun but the 77 to 79/80 period was the best.
  5. Linda Lyndell "Bring your love back" - beneath the bass guitar intro you can hear a male voice saying "and...now."
  6. For me it would have to be a Torch niter - managed to get to one all-dayer there and that was magic!
  7. That explains a lot - great tune from great times!

    Get better soon!
  9. Probably me - always in my play box - tell us what tracks are each side of it and I'll probably be able to work out who it was!
  10. Bought one a few years back from Adey Pierce for 40, turned out to be Danny Everards old copy. One of those where the instr. is the one to play, preferably VERY LOUD!
  11. Thank you Pete - I thought that maybe I'd overlooked that...never saw or smelt that inside t' Casino but thought until now that my memories were just different to his!
  12. Yes, it was SS supplying new vocals - as he did with Afternoon of the Rhino (Dreamin' up a fantasy), Crying over you (These heartaches, supposedly by Dena Barnes ) and a few more my brain refuses to recall!
  13. No, ADIS is a different track as I recall
  14. ...great missed opportunities part 211... Still, it was worth the wait!
  15. Must give a mention to Butch Williams "Keep on loving me thae way you do" from his new album - Dave Thorley can sell it to you - excellent! Oh, and Kirk Frankin's "looking for you" has to be one of the most uplifting tracks in recent years.
  16. Not to mention doing the same on the b-side, the instrumental of The Magicians "Is it all gone", retitled "Love Symphony". How come he got hold of that track?
  17. Agreed, another of the scenes characters gone...
  18. To think I only bought Cookie Woodson for pennies at Wigan one night because someone had written "played at Yate" on the sleeve...and I couldn't recall anyone spinning it. Only trouble is, it's the double sided demo of "I can't hear you", only about £649 price difference - but at least it sounded better than I remembered it after a recent play!
  19. ...nor, most probably, would Ginger Taylor . Has he still got that blown-up Four Vandals label on his record Box?
  20. Had some great nights at the Dome, going up on the coach, meeting up with Mark George for the first time in years at Wetherspoons in Victoria then onto the tube, staying over chez Flynn and getting very little sleep...Paul O'B and I drove up a few times after that, have to say some of those memories rank with the best, including driving back over the Cotswolds just as it got light on a summer morning with a pile of vinyl purchases on the back seat, then doing my old niter habit of cleaning them all up and playing them before trying to get to sleep ...priceless...
  21. Too true...well, sat in the wardrobe anyway ...I was sent this as a UK demo before release, always quite liked it but I've probably only played it half a dozen times, and then only in the privacy of my front room!
  22. ...and one listen will confirm, the maroon boot is very "toppy" with hardly any bass.
  23. That makes sense - I always think of White Whale as a late 60's operation, anyone know how long the label was in existence for?
  24. Sure the fast version came out as a 45 on Jay Boy. Years ago I did detail the differences between the B & C UK album and the Crestview US one, e.g. one has the vocal of "My little girl" while t'other has the instrumental. I'll try to find my post sometime but it's probably lost in the ether!
  25. Just played it on air now...it's one of those tunes that will drive you spare in a very short time. Good fun at first though!
