  1. Any stores / shoe shops in the Lincs / Cambs area which keep Ikon, Del junction, or Loake tassel loafers in stock ?
  2. Sure I heard ' Stick together'getting a few spins at Notts Palais circa 1977, have actually got 'Ready steady go ' - must have bought at Rob's records in the 80's ??
  3. Wanting to buy some new leather loafers with the tassels - anyone had any experience with these makes - MONK, IKON, DELICIOUS JUNCTION ? And if so, how did they fit, if you normally take a size 10, for instance, did your new pair of loafers fit snug, loose, or whatever ?
  4. Got a super clean Original of Eddie Foster ' I NEVER KNEW ' on US IN records, lovely looking, shiny, perfect copy, looks like the best one in the world ! Need to sell a few things to raise some cash for a car change later in the year. Any decent offers over £375 ??
  5. Do you mean the type who think that Barbara Carr ' Don't knock love' (Chess) is a new discovery ?!? The guy must have been frozen in an ice block for decades, like Capt. America (and the issue 2120 is the 2nd, orig on 1985).
  6. Was def played at Leicester Oddfellows Niter in the early 80's
  7. Here's 3 from me that I enjoy spinning at home, would love to hear them out at a big venue - SWAMP DOGG - ' COME GET IT ' on ALA from '82, old P. Brady Bradford modern spin, excellent funky stop-start stormer ! // SMOOTH & CO - ' HALF STEPPING ' forgotten 80's super group sound that came out on UK Move (very hard on US Bevnik). // THE IMPRESSIONS - ' SINCE I LOST THE ONE I LOVE ' criminally underplayed Mayfield ABC dancer, just as good as some of their better known goodies.
  8. Room for a new Post / Topic here .... Rediscovered sounds in your own collection !! (records you have overlooked / forgotten / not played / flip sides). a few nice things I have spun this afternoon, Keep on loving - OTIS LEAVILL (Columbia) // He'll be back - PLAYERS (Minit) // Just your fool - LEON HAYWOOD (20TH Century) // What's so good about good-bye - MIRACLES (Tamla) // Life goes on - FAB DOWNBEATS (Poison Ring) // You'll never get my love - MIKE JEMISON (Lake) // Do the skin - KENARD GARDNER (Dore) // Has love been here before - FAB DETERMINATIONS (Mainstream) // I'm the one - WHISPERS (Soul Clock) // Phoenix - AQUARIAN DREAM (Buddah)
  9. Not the flip to the ultra rare Selfish One is it Billy ? Ha Ha Giggle ... Happy new year you old tosser
  10. Hello fellow Soul Spinners and alcohol guzzlers, seasons greetings to you and all your family, just downing a couple of bottles of Hobgoblin ale, and a nice Theakstons Old Peculiar. Anyone familiar with the 45 ' Honey Bee ' - Fontella Bass (Bobbin Records), not my usual type of sound, think I picked it up cheap in the States several years ago, but quite a good early 60's R&B tinged mover, actually growing on me. Also playing - Billie Dearborn (Bell) // Bobby Wells Copp a Groove (Beacon) // The Record - Byron Lee (Soul) // Lonely Love - Bettye Swann (Money) // We're in love - Little Bob (La Louisanne) // Cuddled up - Smith Bros (T Neck) // Go for what you know - Superbs (Dore) // Love Line - Forecast (Ariola) // Time won't let me - Outsiders (Capitol) // Galveston - Glen Campbell (Capitol) !!
  11. Don't agree that Frank Wilson is not a good record - it is a bloody good record that has suffered from vast overplays and being greatly commercialised by many reissues and boots, etc
  12. Always liked the Cobblestone ' Trick me, treat me' (covered as the Volcanoes), fast, obscure white garage, but a super sounding Northern stormer, and a true monster sound at lots of venues (and miles better than some of the uptempo obscure rubbish that is being spun at the moment). But what about ' Lets spend some time together ' LA Power and Light (terrible Inst cover of R. Stones), and ' When love grows cold ' (Ron Grainer Orch), another awful casino inst spin.
  13. WHAT ARE YOU SPINNING / DRINKING AT HOME .... 1/ TAKE IT TO THE LIMIT - Norman Connors (Arista) // 2/ I JUST WANT TO LOVE YOU - Stanley Clarke/George Duke (Epic) // 3/ I WANT YOU FOR MYSELF - George Duke (Epic) // 4/ YOU GOT TO CHANGE DIRECTION - Communications (RIGHT-ON) // 5/ BABY DON'T YOU KNOW - Dusty Springfield (Philips) // 6/ WHY IS LOVE SUCH A MIGHTY HARD THING - Flame & lovelights (Jaber) // 7/ DREAMS OF A SHOESHINE BOY - Lightdrivers (Gemini) // 8/ MAKE UP YOUR MIND - Earl Connelly (Maycon) // 9/ ALL WORK AND NO PLAY - Serena Johnson (Big 2) // 10/ DOWN IN THE GHETTO - Major 1V (Venture) // 11/ YOU TOOK MY HEART - James Brown (Polydor) // 12/ LISTEN TO ME - Esquires (Capitol) // 13/ I LIKE TO BE WITH YOU - Los Mozambiques (Happy) // 14/ WHATS MISSING - Alex O'Neal (Tabu) 15/ I CAN'T MAKE IT WITHOUT YOU - Tyrone Davis (Dakar) // 16/ STILL IN LOVE WITH YOU BOY - Marcia Aitken (Gibbs). Top drinks for a very mild Sunday in Nov - YOUNGS DOUBLE CHOCOLATE STOUT / BATEMANS MOCHA BEER / YELLOWTAIL AUSTRALIAN SHIRAZ / THREE BARRELS FRENCH BRANDY
  14. Two great Searling spins you don't hear too much now, HENRY BOATWRIGHT ' I can take or leave your loving ' / REUBEN HOWELL ' Can't stop a man in love '
  15. Literally hundreds of excellent TMG B sides, what about these - 584 MIRACLES - SAVE ME // 633 TEMPTATIONS - I WANT A LOVE I CAN SEE // 602 STEVIE WONDER - HEY LOVE // 621 MARTHA & VANDELLAS - ONE WAY OUT // 552 M. GAYE - WHEN I HAD YOUR LOVE // 525 MARV JOHNSON - I'M NOT A PLAYTHING

  17. Just seen the news on the BBC, Jimmy has passed away in a Vegas Hospital, aged 78. Another soul legend sadly departs. RIP Jimmy Ruffin.
  18. Really bad news. RIP Tony.
  19. Well blow me over , I'm sure his intentions are completely innocent and without any hidden agenda to make himself a few pounds from the unwary /ignorant record buyers in the UK
  20. Sure this post is not in the right category, don't actually give a Flying F*** content removed by site - post it in the event comments if you want to discuss/give feedback on events
  21. Doubt very much that the artist and/or label owner thinks that by repressing this they will make a fortune, more likely that whoever has got hold of some of these and is selling them on Ebay (without divulging the info regarding the re-issue) is hoping to rake in some quick cash from innocent unsuspecting soulsters !!
