  1. Too many such speculative set-sales all over the internet (from anonymous or reputed carefree dealers) coupled with auctions going over rhe roof (deep pocket "outside" new commers) makes room for the opportunists to dare without shame in participating into the desintegration of current average conscensus prices. All is wrong.
  2. OK, that could very well be (read that therory before) but that would mean that the flaws were that recurent for every forth coming release to last for a while release after release from Soul 35020 up to 35029... That both with V.I.P. and the Soul label simultenaously... And then at an other time frame with Tamla and Motown... Making me believe that it was rather intentional somehow for fast'N'easy rush commercial releases. Before being attested by a person of authority on the matter of such nonchalent professional aptitude to make the same and yet most easy to correct flaw not once, nor twice but repetedly I'll stick to my theory.
  3. Gladys Knight and The Pips 'walk in my shoes' on west coast is far less rare than the Frances Nero (whose white promo variants of that very west coast press is more common for example than it's white/lilac stocker counterpart for that matter) on west coast styrene pressing on the white/lilac labels. Even though Gladys on the west coast pressing is still rarer than the vinyl ARP pressing (not rare at all that one) none the less.
  4. Blimey ! Makes sense as I've never seen the stocker of this west coast pressing but only the white promo. And I don't look at what is reissued or booted (same shame frame IMO) anymore so the net can indeed fool me. Thanks for pointing that out. This is the real stuff ;
  5. Will try to dig out my demo and ask a friend who comes along to bring along his stock copy with the 'B' side and check both matrixes and play wise. I love my Motown 45's with their RCA masterings. They sound finer on my good MONO phono set up. Really they do. Even some guests notice that finer difference at times and I wont credit them as audiophiles.
  6. Rarest press I believe is the west coast stocker (seen few white promos variant of it though) with the first label design... Yummy !
  7. Am born in 1970 and based in Belgium. Use to pick them up here as the flip 'fight fire with fire' was a 'Pop-Corn' sound. But it was never considered even here as a 'rare' one. Use to pick them up for £1 to about £3 to after retail them for about £7.50 early nineties to my soul friends here. It was a good 'catchy' seller on first ear. Early 21st Century the UK Northern revival came and the scene played a lot of Motown and the prices started to sour... All the big shops had both JM and KR price guides... Then at one time all the dealers here in Belgium got to see those prices on the net. No Frances Nero were available all of a sudden amongst many other things. Then I manage to swap my stocker for a promo as they were selling for the same money now. Thrilled I was. Never expected to own one white demo. Thinking I got me a deal but actually not. Just a preference swap for both...
  8. Old thread indeed. To set the record straight the issue is/was to more common pressing to be found. The record was a good seller in 1966. The Northern revival and it's new commers and resurected folks with deep pockets had no experience to allow the dealers to push up the prices of many records. This one as well. With some dee-jays replays this Motown classic finally got it's 'posh' popularity. A new northern made it's entry in the TOP 500+ The stocker gained much in price (X 10) where the promo not at all at the same time. To sell for similar money regardless. Purchased by non collectors now. Explaination maybe ? If some argue that the stocker features a great 'B' side that the promo does not, it's true. Or partly at least. The promo doesn't feature a real 'B' side, True. But honestly if 'fight fire with fire' musicaly is fair, vocally and lyric-wise it's just another dull record IMHO. For proof if it was only for 'fight fire with fire' not many here would even mention Frances Nero. That's that. Then as for those double 'A' sided labeled stockers out there I am about certain that these were just commercial rush releases when they didn't have a 'B' side ready yet but the demand was hot. Not a promo but a single sided stocker for rush sales I believe once the tune was readily available as promo and the air-play made it's buzz.
  9. Looked out for a 1969 'King' remix/version on YT but all are the De Luxe 1966 mix. Only found this one that was made in my dear old country Belgium by and for the 'Pop-Corn' people with a so slightly over-pitched recording of it but not by much if ever. Voilà...
  10. The Vicky Anderson ALL THE WAY for me but the later 1969 "warmer" remix on King instead of the earlier 1966 De Luxe "colder" mix like on the YT sound bit up here. Knew the Blues Busters first as a teen. OK-ish. Was into the Jamaican music back then and like most them folks had not much appreciation for their "soul" acts. To this day still. The Jerry Jackson is first but the guy never had too much going for my soul thirst. A good crooner with corky commercial musical arrangements. All a tad too much for my liking or wallet. Keeping a Lynn Collins because it's worth peanuts and doesn't hurt to stay there. Taking this tragedy of a song to another level of derision of some sort. Gets a spin home every turn of the century.
  11. Always knew the Hot Cinnamon on S.O.S. theory being the first release on a local label to the Joe & George on Now. But with time and no real encounter with the Hot Cinnamon copy I'm getting suspicious some about that theory... First the sole image I manage to get hold of the Hot Cinnamon is not the best but screams 'boot' to these eyes. Boot from the same "mold" as Rex Garvin 'queen of the go go' and alikes for example. Secondly there's the 'Then Music' BMI licencing that is shared with 2 other releases on the Now label as it's also the case for the Joe & George. That implies a continuity on the Now label for 3 consecutive numbers including the Joe & George release. Where on the sole issue of the S.O.S. label it also appears but only as 'Then' (no Music) with the oddest catalogue numbering N-5 ??? Like the Now label although Joe & George there is N-4 ! Anyone knows better or have stories on it ? How does it sound on S.O.S. ? Good ? Better or not ? Could it only be a rare boot ? If so a new quest for some and an old one I can finally drop...
  12. After a clean copy. PM me if ever. Cheers, Tim

Depends on the eViBay's seller selling and shipping options but yes it can be. Here in Belgium the VAT on any second, third or zillion hand objects like records is 21%. The state is the greatest beneficiary of people's work.
  14. Graded as EX for few superficial scuffs. But rest assure it's looking really good. In neat collector's shape FWIW. Comes complete in it's OEM company sleeve. Baring only a sticker removal tear by a previous owner. Besides from that not much default to be found on it. The scans and soundclips are from the acual copy offered for sale. Free shipping anywhere from Belgium. Add £7 to have it sent registered with tracking for safety if ever... moon william.mp3 PM for inquiries

Yes another vanity record indeed. Remembeing hearing long ago that the guy was from Libanese origin... Nabay a deformation of an arabic name like Nabil maybe ? Was he the composer A. Bushamie ?
  16. Yep I even contemplate the option to loose my credits with them. Like I did loose mine with Bidnip in the past for other reasons then going to esnipe... The good old days of crate digging or bidding on paper with a stamp or by phone was another kinda 'fun'.
  17. Maybe not. I'll try to dig into that. Anyway they definetaly got close-er as now esnipe invites you to 'snipe' directly from eBay... As for the difference in intrest between them two it would BE clear if only they kept their distances while leaving room for competition like it was. Not so much anymore I'm affraid. And I'm not paranoid. In this case and the esnipe lawyer type of answer (copy & paste prototype legal type of crap - I can copy & paste on here if ever with the same talent they have - not making the same sallary though) testify that their checking their backs... The initial commercial argument in this case (save money for the bidder) is not relevant evidently. Although they present their apologies. But not presenting concern on the matter. Ask how a Custom controler checks a casino fairness in money games. Here he has a case of serious concern. A technical algorythm debrief would be the first step to resolve what would seem as a breach to re-establish 'trust' in the tool. If not further.
  18. Yes, Exactly ! But that is really problematic. That since 'esnipe' (ex eazysnipe) is now eVilBay and their business is the same... My maximum bid is secressy. Or is it now ? Here it shows that it's not. Whatever the cue in line or on time their algorythm have to sort out. The fall came that side... With an icrement of €100.21 !!! Bonus for all sides but the bidder, payer (PLAYER) and in the end loser. In a casino situation it's 'fraud' on the house. Lucky seller and eVilBay (% fee). Actually not totally since the winner (spoiler) dropped down and the seller came back to me offering me to have it at my highest bid. But that is not right with all that in scheme. Even if one think it could be a 'happy win-win' situation. Only in the bigger picture it stinks IMO. Esnipe answer to me was a legal technical blurb from a man in suit. YUK ! Not worth a better comment than that.
  19. What could be the take on this snipe increment situation ; I'm the one marked in red with my odd decimal maximum bid. The highest winning bid has logically a £10 increment above mine. While the highest bid below me is some £100.21 lower... Gap ! Between that bid and mine, no £ increment what so ever !!! The winning bid was placed 1 second before my maximum snipe bid. Esnipe is now eBay's tool and to me all this snipe situation seems rather suspicious. What are your thoughts on it ? The winning snipe bid was higher than mine OK. The £xxx,98 maximum snipe over bid was placed 1 second before mine ?! Rather suspicious, no ?
  20. Papapa Oooooo ! R.I.P. Dennis +
  21. Many things do come into the game here. The American anti-Soviet embargo when Jamaica looked East back in the seventies forced alternatives like gathering all previously unsold record stocks to melt them down and print "new" releases or re-releases. Poor recycled vinyl full of paper bits can't be prone for a silent groove. That's one reason. The fact that by the seventies they recorded, mastered and pressed more than ever before their records with old, worn and dated gear on tinyer and tighter budget got them to be like used to it. Like a trade mark almost. Then herb, rastafarism and other disturbing perception factors might have got the best of their discerning abilities (LOL). Finally play them records with the right gear to get the best out of their groove since not all groove are alike and not all genres of music benefits from the same amplification stage. Jamaican ska, rock-steady or reggae even more will benefit from heavy bass. Then those "rough" MONO Jamaican groove shall benefit from a large conical stylus.
  22. Lyrics of dreaded 'deja vu' feelings. Through the most realistic as fantastic vocal rendition by the Anderson Brothers backed with exceptional musical arrangements. Groove baby ! Thrilling emotional immersion experience for me at every play since 36 years ! Thanks a lot Mister Ray for sharing your slice of life with us in humble honesty and with such talent. + RIP +
  23. Two pressing variants involving two different plants. With the more "common" blue Dan-Dy 100 variant typical Chicago label with 'brute & bold' font typo and the "rarer" New-York green Dan-Dy 100 label pressing with the Shelby stamped matrix. Is the later green label variant contemporary to the blue label variant (1966) or not ? I know of the only other release on the label Dan-Dy 101 of Willie Weems & the Palmadores on the green label New-York press variant. But not on the blue label Chicago press variant. That could indicate a continuity attempt on the green New-York but that doesn't still mean a 'contemporary' (1966) pressing to the blue Dan-Dy 100. Am asking as I now also have a green pressing in hand and am surprised by the rather soft plastic used (very bendable), beveled edge of the vinyl border's, thin tight groove, a thin paper pressed molded label bearing at least 4 different typos. All remeniscent of seventies pressings. But not 1966 pressings IME. Be it a small NY label. Would anyone know better for fact ? Was the Shelby pressing plant still running in the seventies? FWIW the masterings are different. The green label variant is evidently 'clearer'. That is the result of prominent high frequencies that on the blue label variant is evidently lacking (intentionally I believe). But resulting in more HF distortions.
  24. Love the Staple Singers 'Trippin' so I gladly take any info relating to it's history and this cheesy Maple sirup relating version release I did not know about. Thanks for that. Although unlike you I grew up in a mostly French speaking "culture" (Brussels) and always since a kid had a major aversion for the French singing "à l'americaine" and the "european" (French Canada is that a bit too for real) serious lack of better taste or knowhow trying to make anglo-american music genres with "vulgar" commercial arrangements & productions. Am being rather partial here but my resetment has always been that deep. And anyway 'Trippin' On Your Love' is such a stronghold tune in my heart in very way ; musicaly, vocaly & lyric wise. Any close things coming by should merely compete in vain to these ears.
  25. Have PM you Russ not to "polute" this thread... C-U 😉
