============= First and foremost hear the tempo of the record and dance to it. Do it with conviction, and you can't go wrong. Alternatively I can teach you the 'Christ on a cross in a strong wind' dance, perfected by Janine 4/5 years ago

======== That's why we call you Bumpy McBump
  4. ========= Probably should have added when I said shiver, I was talking about the ones that travel the spine as opposed to the ones bought on by frost/snow, etc.
  5. ======== Personally I think where it was recorded and by whom, is irrelevant. The criteria should be does the record move you, does it touch you, make you shiver......If so, IMO it's the perfect soul record. Winnie:-)
  6. ======= There's a difference between a record being played so many times it becomes boring, and drivel. A quality record is a quality record however many times you've heard it, it may get on your nerves, but DRIVEL, surely you don't mean that! Winnie:-)
  7. ========= 10000 still on the northern scene? That seems quite a lot, that's like having 50 do's every weekend with 200 people at each....or are my maths out? Winnie:-)

========= Not so sure it's a 60Ts mafia thing, an empty dancefloor tells it's own story really. As Dave said, it is advertised as a northern room, with a seperate modern room, and whilst I am partial to a bit of 'shoulder shrugging' music, it's a little unfair IMO on the majority of punters, who have come to be entertained. Those who only go out once a month or so, want memories not education, well that's how I read it anyway. Winnie:-)
  9. ======= What about free hotwings for the first 50 through the door??
  10. The tour also features the less internationally known Eddie Holman, Carl Carlton and Major Harris, whose music was popular in Northern Britain during the Northern Soul years when lesser-known artists became fashionable and clubs dedicated to the kind of music now reserved for fried chicken adverts sprung up. =========== You can clearly spot where this promoter has gone wrong, if he/she had been more forthcoming, and used the actual name of the Fried Chicken outlet, he/she would have had a resounding success on his/her hands. Everybody trusts the Colonel and his secret array of spices, that combine to make the, oh so pleasant, tastebud friendly, chicken extravaganza, that has become synonomous with northern soul. Still it's comforting to know that we of the northern soul persuasion, have now been indelibly etched on the psyche, of every man, woman, and child in the free world via the bargain bucket. :-) Winnie:-)

======== How long did this one take to find?

======== Are you able to say what the reaction was to you approaching the Promoters and DJ's? PM me if it's a bit sensitive. Winnie:-)

======== One set was mainly Cleethorpes biggies from the 70Ts, which explained the modernish theme
  15. Winnie :-) replied to a post in a topic in All About the SOUL
========= As Shane said, there was a couple of hours of modernish stuff at Cleethorpes. In fairness it doesn't really worry me, but as I said in the post about Dessie, the dance floor IMO should be catered for at all times. Winnie:-)

=========== Yeah I was there, thought Max's set was pretty good, but the guy afterwards didn't do a lot for me. I think the main criticism I would have, would be that the DJ's were clearly not gauging the dancefloor reaction. I didn't get there til 10, what time was Arthur on? Winnie:-)
  17. ======= Good point Col/Brian, I'm off to Desborough in 10 mins. Winnie:-)
  18. ======== Brian? I thought you were Col? The people I'm really referring to by the way, are the ones who hide behind their secret identity to post derogatory, or inflamatory (Sh*t, now I'm worried if I'm gonna be pilloried if I spelt inflammatory incorrectly) remarks. Winnie:-)
  19. ======== I think the ability to spell is irrelevant to the content of the posts. I would like to think that SS members can look beyond spelling, punctuation and grammar. After all, none of would want to feel responsible for people being scared to post, for fear of being pulled up for their spelling. As Shane said, it was meant to be a light hearted post, hopefully it will stay that way Winnie:-)
  20. ===========
  21. ======= Something that winds me up? People not putting their names at the bottom of posts, just think it's polite to do so. Winnie:-) PS. Godz know you have put your name before, so not talking about you.

========== Hammy, You got all that from a one line comment from me? I never for one moment thought that the 'white is shi*e' comment was meant as a racist one, but from experience, think it's best explained so that no misinterpretation can take place. Winnie:-)

========= Can you expand on this statement?
  24. ========= Sounds like you're spending too much time on the village people scene
  25. ========= Read it James, and think I totally understand now.... The words Cu*t and funk scene do seem synonomous Winnie:-)
