Help With Price: Chris Jones - Destination Unknown - Goody Train
Hi Gareth, Only other record he had on the label (in quantity) was Cleo Page - Goodie Train Part 1/2. Also got some Joey Jefferson related stuff on 12", Sunlovers, plus some I can't remember (will have to look in the barn), California Billalion, etc. Just assumed it was a label that had a connection to Joey Has an LA address on it. Regards, Ady

Help With Price: Chris Jones - Destination Unknown - Goody Train
Not repressed or reissued. They all originated (the clean copies) from a guy that Tommy & I went round too in LA. He had all the old stock of them. Not in the best of areas, seem to remember saying to Tommy keep the engine running while I do the deal Great funk record. I have a couple left if anyone is interested.

Magnetics
Ah, gotcha. Did it sound good loud? Would love to hear how it sounds in a big hall, got a feeling it could be good.

Magnetics
Hi John, Like you say, the "Good By my Love" side is a good up tempo sound, I think it's great. It has an interesting echo sound effect to it. The only down side to it is it's a real small budget label/recording, very low-fi, so expect to turn the volume up when you play it out. Have you got one? or looking for one?

Ringleaders / Four Temples
It never ceases to amaze me how these things ever managed to survive, like you say John fella wasn't concentrating, so lucky he never chucked it when he realised. Mind you, it does make you then wonder how many unreleased acetates did get chucked back at that time, bet there's been some great music lost for ever because of this. Interesting thread, I like this kind of stuff

Cookie Jackson - Do You Still Love Me
Can anyone that has the Gold label release post up the delta number in the dead wax, please. The orange label one is 46365. Was just wondering if they were pressed up at the same time Just had a quick count up on the copies on popsike, 22 Gold, 1 rough Orange. Some dont have pictures but I know the ones that were sold a while back that came from the record store that was closed in 1970, were gold labels.

Hi John, Is the "All of my life" cut at 33 & "Lets start over" at 45 like it says on the label?

James Walsh Gypsy Band - Cuz It's You, Girl
I see the record time is 3:25 on that test press, 4:06 on the F&E release. Is it 3:25 on the normal RCA release?

The Servicemen
Now we can see where they got the idea for the song from Bob ! Moved a few words around & added "Are you Angry". I wonder if the Servicemen heard the Sonics or Thee Midniters to give them the idea? Suppose we'll never know.

The Servicemen
Hello Harry, Here's a scan of The Magicians boot, & one of the original Servicemen. Also, "I need a helping hand" got booted on the plain 'orange' label, so beware. I dont have one at the moment so can't post up a scan. Cheers pottsy

The Servicemen
Hi Bob, I just tried playing them side by side. Because Thee Midniters version is so slow, plus they repeat lines, it's tricky to say if they are exactly the same. But, I think on T.M. version they miss out a few words, otherwise, it's the same lyrics. Interesting thing, the Servicemen credit (H.Murrell - J.Mitchell). Then on one copy I have of Thee Midniters it credits (Garcia - Espinoza) & on another label design it credits (Thee Midniters). Regards pottsy

Eeee... When I Were A Lass
I know I've told it on here before, but, yeh, now that was funny Mike........"Wonder how many of the big name d.j's will know the flip of Never Can Say Goodbye?"......"Don't know lets find out, shall we?"......"ok" oh look - here's an acetate of it....1st big dj "That's nice, how much?"..... 2nd big dj "what do you want for it?".....3rd dj says "I'm sure you owe me some money - give the fooker 'ere !" Only regret I have is not being there when someone went up to the decks & said to Rob T. "why are you playing the flipside to Never Can Say Goodbye?" must have sounded great sandwiched between the Appointments & the Young Bros.

Hot Box Records
Just seen your post Nick spot on mate. Or your in the toilet only to hear "Do you realise you've been in there half an hour, dear?"...."IT'S A F*****G BIG LIST, DEAR !"
-
Hot Box Records
Correct me if I'm wrong, but, if someone says they have a 'hot box', surely this is just another way of saying they don't have a collection? It would be like me going round a hot box dj's house & saying "would it be ok to look at your records, please?" & his reply would be "Yes, hang on a second I'll go & get them" as opposed to "Yes, you'll have to step this way" Just a thought.

New Yorkers
Sold a Mint one 10 days ago with the football players for £450, well I'm holding it on a deposit to be precise. I think the picture on the label is great. They certainly put some fine detail into it. Nice when you get an interesting looking label.
