remember being at a party in north London in the 9ts, for one of the 100 club regulars and Nick and dawn Dj'd... I asked him about the shrine stuff and he handed me a pile of 10 or so records, all the big ones...first and last time I'll ever be in close contact with them I guess... it was quite a sight I can tell you. And I know were talking about the full set... M

I got the reissue or Lookalike of this, and its first time I heard the flip, its really good.. better that Man o' man IMHO.. M

there was a chap who lived in Brighton in the 9ts, Nick I think it was, Paul Sutton would remember his name, worked on the Oil Rigs, anyhow he was from Wolverhampton, I have strange sneaking feeling this may be him, as he had a massive stock of 45's buried away. I tried to contact Richard Domar quite recently, he only takes calls on a Tuesday I think, anyhow could not get through... I hope he gets better, but my god he is a miserable sod. M

God I love this track, he has three I adore, this is pretty tops... I've only got it on mp3.. if there is a press of this, my foot is in the cue.. Mal.C

weird one that, its was a massive record, But I only heard it played at scooter rallies and the Outrigger in Brum, Its not Crap, but its a pretty boring track.. m

they do smell, just not so chemical-illy.. dunno about your dog though, somebody who is sixty, like a dog who has no sense of smell...

God I remember those conversations with magnum, remember Barbara English - taste sour don't it, Pete? still got mine, and I kept all the paperwork of our conversations, he certainly had a way of answering direct questions with a politicians slight. slippery buggar, he offered to refund me, but I wanted the track so bad I paid the 200 quid... spot on... absolutely dreadful record.. That said I like most stuff, and although its fun to mock all these I think 'Our Music' is utterly fabulous...I think its worth saying that here.. That said, there are some tracks that just turn me off, either they are generally deficient in vocal quality otherwise termed as pub singers, or just too plaintive for my taste, Tommy Bush - I don't like it is an example, nothing in that record moves me what so ever.. and I'd have to say that about most of the above... Why don't we do a thread about really good records, give me an excuse to knock trendy funky stuff, cue 'Funk Meister' Dave Abbott... and thrust the virtues of 'Beat ballads.. maybe another time ehh.. I know what you mean, somebody contacted me from here and asked what I'd pay, I said £15, not heard back.. Just for the record, if your an infrequent visitor to this site, one of the army we see checking out how much your records might be worth...and looking to sell on a few copies of these re issues.. these are re issues not originals, £10 TOPS.. right that's off my chest, because I want this now, I'll offer £15 for this Soul Walkers - I'm Tired Of What People Say Or Do.. any takers. I waltzed down to Honest Johns on Portebello road yesterday and got this Box set, and spent last night listening to the 45's in it... this is without doubt the Christmas gift for any soul folk this year, totally without doubt.. Seriously, the book is beautiful, totally enthralling to read, its beautiful presented and seriously researched, the singles them selves look the business, play quality is great, and you get everything as an MP3 on a free download again brilliant quality for your i-Pod.. Track wise, I took out the obvious things straight away and was left with a pile of labels all new to me, and as we all know its always exciting to play stuff for then first time, and each side just kept on coming.... Have to say I think this label is really impressive, reminds me of those brilliant Clarkie Kent LP covers from the 8ts... tons of imagination... Only negative thing about this boxset, I would say would be the record sleeves are a tad strange, they have a lip on the top which does make em look and feel messey...that said the box they come in is really neat, nice colour as well. Best two hundred nicker I've spent on music in a long while... and hats of to the Numero Boys for a job well done... Mal.C.
