(new) Northern Soul Top 500 Book Launch Event
There is a strange perception about Kev Roberts, in one breath we mock him, allot of us find him very irritating as a DJ and Radio presenter, I know I do. But what Pete has stated is absolutely true. Kev's knowledge of records is simply vast, remember he was out there buying tracks up in the seventies and early eighties; he may not know as some of you mention 'what's going on today' but if you put your toe in first time around likely as not you touched upon thousands upon thousands of unknowns as he did.. A third reprint of his top 500 smells of cashing in to me (I for one wont be buying it as I did the two before, gonna spend my money on the Hey Baby Days coffee table book) but with Kev Roberts you have to remember one golden rule, he's a business man, he's in it to make money simply that...if the thousands of unknowns hes come across don't sell to the majority he wont write, play or ever mention them. The Platters- No Not My Girl
I agree with some of your points, but I still get allot of mid priced tracks for a fraction of the prices I see listed on this forum, My point is that folk are letting their imagination run away with them when it comes to pricing easy to get, common 45's that really have a very basic value... If your fool enough to pay well over the odds for a 45 you could have got by simply holding fast and bothering to search out, well thats your decision, as for your comment about those who don't have much money, read it back my friend, and think about what you have just said.. The Platters- No Not My Girl
Astounded, what has collecting come to? I keep on saying it, but You people pay so much for your records you really do, yes I pay out for certain tracks but the prices I see asked are just silly, beyond silly in fact, and that extends to the major dealers some of which are on here, no disrespect guys but I'm really surprised you still have any customers at those prices... Sorry Rupert no disrespect to yourself sir, but you see how strongly I feel about this, with that quote I think your having a laugh mate.. Famous last words spoken on the Bridge on the River Kawi, "Madness, Sheers Madness!!! Mal:)

Ray & The ?
Wow, so a further Ray track in the Blue Cats release, thanks for the listing. I assume 13 through 17 are missing, I mean they did not jump release numbers as they do occasionally on these smaller labels? The "She Doesn't Love Me " has to be the same side? Kinda reminds me of Dereks' Jessie James / Dick & The Deamonds - Falling Stars track on Lawn, I've searched High and Low for both releases but still looking! Now I probably got add the Ray & The Blue Cats... what you guys doing to me??? Mal
