'Are you there Moriarty?'

* It seems I dropped a bollock on 'Jo Armstead / Preacher Rose', so, after over 25 enquires, can I ask 'DONT PM me, it's gone...

Time to start back collecting new new releases, or back to house records, I honestly wonder why folks keep shelling out so much for these 45s, it’s obscene really isn’t it. that said I’m wondering how long these people are gonna hold out, if you buy at the top, no matter what it is, records, playing cards with nude women on them, stamps…you’re gonna loose money… simple economics…

Hearing Unexpected Music In Unexpected Places!
Mal C replied to Tony Turner's topic in All About the SOUL
Heard 'Inspirations - Your Wish Is My Command' in B&Q last weekend, the unexpected thing was I'd heard it a week before in the same store! -
John and the Wierdest - Can't Get Over These Memories
Mal C replied to Mal C's topic in Look At Your Box
Ok, to finish this thread off, here is a scan of the 9ts boot of this, plus the flip... The date stamp thing is truly horrible, looks awful and it cuts or starts at the drum roll...so incomplete... not good like most I'm not mad on boots, but sometimes you gotta get the best copy you can... -
blimey, I mean where do you start? Northern wise, all the big labels, or major labels are out there. You want small label stuff really if you were to find things that were not on CD, obscure Northern tracks on local labels. These are a few I have grabbed, that I have never seen on a CD via Kent or SS, or any of those labels, that said Numero have mede massive efforts in getting the more obscure label / numbers out there, so you really can never tell... and some of these are not straight Northern, probably collectors stuff... If you want to swap Obscure tracks, I have thousands, happy to send some in return, The Toronados - Clap You Hands & Skate / WINLEY Records Inc Little Willie Johnson - Loneliness / VANDELLA'S The Affluents - Tom's Song / USA The New Continentals / TEEPEE

Sam Ward – Sister Lee / Groove City EX++ £20 Seventies boot, nice thick vinyl copy. Prince Arthur & His Knights Of The Round Table - Walkin Uptown / ABC Paramount WD EX++£20 Wicked Organ Instrumental, was featured on 'Soul Class of 66' back in the eighties.. great 45.. Lee Lamont – I’ll Take Love / Back Beat EX+£5 Plays fine, and label is fine, but has a warp.. you can’t here it at all Deon Jackson – You Got Love / You’ll Wake Up Wiser baby / Carla EX++ £20 One of his classic ‘Carla’ sides, common 45, but oh so good… Patrice Valentine – Our Love (A Special Blending) M.J.R records EX++ £30 This has a great Soaring verse, I always thought this was totally right for the 100 club, starts slow, but when Patrice gets there, this track flys!! Steve Mancha – You’re Still in my Heart / Groovesville EX++£12 Classic detroit 45, nice copy, play and label. Harold Burrage – Master key / M-Pac EX+£20 Class early Chicago track from veteran singer Harold Burrage, this is a brilliant track. John and the Wierdest - Can't Get Over These Memories
Mal C replied to Mal C's topic in Look At Your Box
Wow, I remember walking into HMV in B'ham, and seeing multiple copies on display of 'The Northern Soul Story 7' I think they were all £8.99 back then... probably one of the best they did in that series... -
John and the Wierdest - Can't Get Over These Memories
Mal C replied to Mal C's topic in Look At Your Box
I know Trev, I like that "somebody pressed the record button too late" it smacks of those cock ups that make record collecting so interesting. Love the Soul Supply guys, their LP's were essential, but there have been a few instances where the wrong track was laid next to the wrong title, Soul Incorporated on Emblem (Yellow and shield design) for instance on the 'Untouchables' LP... maybe that’s for another thread. -
John and the Wierdest - Can't Get Over These Memories
Mal C replied to Mal C's topic in Look At Your Box
so they cocked up and just started at the drum roll for the Sevens reissue.. It had to come from somewhere! I'm glad we have nearly got to the bottom of this, it's been bugging me for years! -

John and the Wierdest - Can't Get Over These Memories
Mal C replied to Mal C's topic in Look At Your Box
Yeah, having listened to them again, you could edit that intro at the drum roll quite easily... as I said, the see through Brown Vinyl one, the earliest boot of this does have the full piano intro. I did think that bootleg was either later 9ts maybe early 2000s as it was discussed on here at the time. -

Here's the full piano intro... -
John and the Wierdest - Can't Get Over These Memories
Mal C replied to Mal C's topic in Look At Your Box
So the 70's one (see through Brown Vinyl) has the full piano Intro. does anybody have an original with the short drum roll, then in, like this one in the below clip? -
Hi everybody, There are two intros, as far as I can tell, to John and the Wierdest, one with a Piano lead in, the other, just short drum roll and in. What do folks know about these two different intros, is one a bootleg version, there was a good one (Bootleg) in the 9ts/early 2000's, which was dark brown to the light, or did it get originally realeased like this, was this a legit Radio edit? Scan below shows running time 2.04, don't have another scan to compare to this one.... Any ideas?
