JMAuction - 13/09/2023 - Results!
Just to add though on the John Bowie 45,I reckon if Cajun hart, charades on mgm,Eddie foster, and so many of the class oldies are fetching big money, then John Bowie is more than deserving of the price tag!

JMAuction - 13/09/2023 - Results!
My first copy was from the hyde botanical club from the resident dj there(forget who) I had John Bowie and the squires don’t accuse me both mint for 50 quid! I’ve had John Bowie once more in early 2000’s for 150 like yourself Dave! Alas don’t have it now!

The Groove
Always rated this tune, always thought it may have had more exposure over the years! also I think the wand copy crops up a lot more than the 20th century first original?

Do I Love You
Not sure I’d leave that lying around in the north 😂

Valuation: Cleveland Robinson - Boy (Nosnibor 1006)
If it’s the “proper” version which I suspect it it,then easily 800 to a £1000 class record on a par with love is a trap!

Billy Arnell - Tough Girl
Or maybe Jeff lynn elo 😂

Anglo American Auction Results
I’ve always rated the e Williams track, from being a regular play at Hyde social club soul nites, these days I wonder if it’s more a collectors piece rather than a tune for the floor? Certainly up there with the rarest!

Billy Arnell - Tough Girl
Looks like the Yorkshire ripper😂

Sweet Temptation
I’ve just been looking through old posts,I can’t find the pic that Carl fortnum put up of Martha Starr,it was a pic with this and jd Bryant and don gardner!
-
Sweet Temptation
I did a similar post to this some years back,I concluded that the Martha and cressa are the same track, and after Carl fortnum(I’m sure) posted a pic of his original 45 on charay copy of Martha Starr! I also thought this Martha Starr was the same as the girl on thelma! But maybe not! Bit cheaky though just adding and extra R to maybe gain extra exposure?

When did it become about rarity?
I’m sure the Dave evison reference was a few years earlier than this show,im sure him making the point that the magnetics is the first to hit a grand, and the copy looked like a bad day at sea?
-
When did it become about rarity?
My first point of reference to a record being the focus of money, was a Dave evison radio show on signal in the mid 80’s and the guest dj was on (maybe butch) mentioned this was the first record to exchange for £1000 and it was magnetics lady in green, and it was then I realised not all records were a fiver or less😂 so it was downhill after that 😂

When did it become about rarity?
Rarity or value? I’ve had very rare records that don’t have much value, then records that are easy to obtain but have to pay a lot for? so I wonder it’s a money driven scene more than actual rarity? or is it simply everyone chase’s the proven floor fillers, that are in the end the best northern soul records, most of us are just bored of them, but which in turn cost more to buy? I personally didn’t give a shit about rarity, value,or even original when I got into northern, but now for all my sins it’s a big factor!

JMAuction - 09/08/2023 - Results!
The cynthia & imaginations hey boy sounds similar to the four dynamics things a lady ain’t suppose to do on peachtree? if it is the same backing track, which came first? I sold a mint four dynamics on here some years back, wasn’t a fan of the tune, but I knew it was rare!

Manship Auction - July 26th
The gentleman four was a nice price for someone, and a m-copy inside and out!

Have I blown a great chance?
A lot of work to put together the band, obviously many musicians are needed to get the full impact of the sound across, and I can’t see any musician wanting to put all that effort in it for one gig? Unless it was to continue playing regular gigs I wouldn’t bother! also I think you could play live northern soul anywhere and get a great response, as long as the tunes were a mix of popular and a few obscure!

two instrumental questions ?
How the hell did you come up with that title guy?
-
two instrumental questions ?
So did guy name it the Michigan move? Great title, but how the hell did he decide on a title named after a hockey move?

The Invitations - Watch Out Little Girl - Question
So I reckon this invitations variant is on a par with the spyder turner variant where mgm toward the end of the 60’s they have a number of releases or re’releases that were put out in small numbers and have through the passing of time have become very rare items! And whilst this invitations variant is rare and a great little thing,I suspect to be a reissue of the black issue and yellow demo from maybe a couple of years earlier?
