There is a "Mecca Memories" night at The Samlesbury Hotel (Preston) on November 22nd. DJs Colin Curtis, Pete Haigh, Steve Naylor & Andy Lett - the music is the post Northern era - 1975-77/78 & focuses on the Disco & Jazz Funk tunes played there. This is an annual event - we are now in our fifth year & the previous four have been brilliant !!! Sounds right up your mates street !!

Poor ticket sales seems to be the reason - wonder if you get your "booking fee" returned with your refund ?

That was the "informative" one about how we all spent 6 days a week down a mine & then came out to dance to Rain - "Out Of My Mind"

Is that the dance they do at the end of "corporate weekenders" - believe it is known as the Okeh Cokeh" !!

Hubert Laws is still a classic tune - one of the records that typified where The Mecca was in 1975.

Apart from the title they have another thing in common - both very mediocre tunes !!!

I have listened to all the podcasts & I think he has duplicated one record - do you know which one it is ?

This has had spins - only available as a 7 inch on UK Probe.

One came out of Sinfonia in Blackpool for 9p around 74 I think. It went to a Wigan DJ in exchange for Jimmy "Soul" Clark & a 7 inch record box !!
