  1. I think all copies are a bit like that condition wise Nev. Great sound always gets people asking about it.
  2. Yes there is def. an element of truth in that.
  3. Rhonda Thomas I believe? An Atlantean. Still no word on Ilana though.
  4. I don't know Pete, specialist markets / releases and all that. Yes Kim was a couple of years older than me and one of the guys that got me into it all in the first place....
  5. Rhonda also went back to Stax as a solo artist in the late 70s... Mentioning Volt - what about Ilana?
  6. Indeed you'll never get me to find a version of it I actually like Incidentally she told me that in 78, not now.....we were part of the Kent northern gang at the time
  7. Some of my non soul mates have been popping their clogs for years. However a mix of drugs, bad diet, excessive booze, unbalanced sleep, and a lack of exercise save for a frantic round on the dance floor like a teenager again will take their toll on some.
  8. In terms of rarity I remember when UA put out the Bobby Goldsboro maxi single c 1978, Jo Wallace was pretty close to the guy responsible for it. She told me they only did 35 demo copies, so for that reason I made sure I got one . So for a 70s pressing the demos must be quite rare, but as I say, Bobby Goldsboro
  9. From the days of Snoopy Dean et al Modern records were always played at Wigan and later Stafford with Richard, Dave and Robin. At Wigan things like Lovelites, Flaming Emeralds, Silvetti, Eddie Holman (76,77) etc. and later the 79 invasion of things like Bobby Thurston, Roy Dawson etc. so don't think it's something that you can put into tight compartments.
  10. Bull Moose Jackson - comedy lyrics, a firm favourite with the old 6Ts crowd in London. I laugh at all these old chiches, the meaning of the word "Rock" as used in song titles, references to "Back doors", "Bow legged women" "Licking sticks" and the like. But back to the topic starters notion, I am sure plenty of two step will be up your street. Already seen mention for things like Edee Leatherwood "Make it last" and who could forget Starvue "Body fusion" a cheapie that was mass imported.
  11. The Tearra "just loving you" was East Coast - Manny Campbell. And Tearra was a female she did other stuff as well (Teah Louise I believe).
  12. Aren't there also a couple of rare TMG's - withdrawn ones. Masai "Across the tracks" and a few other weird ones on Mojo too I think.
  13. Good points Marc.
  14. Yes I have an issue of this too so can confirm.
  15. Steve G posted a post in a topic in Look At Your Box
separate thread running. It's a belgium boot.

    Ahem....
  17. I think the inclusion of "Sad Girl" dates it to 79? Steve
  18. Yes and it's Monday morning and wet Roburt!
  19. Some nice stuff there. Never saw one of those drinks discount vouchers before.
  20. What's this doing in "Look at your box" Thought it should be in the "General fun and knockabout" section to be honest. Is someone going to post a rare Indonesian copy of Soft Cell singing "Tainted love" next?
  21. Maybe comes back to the point about good records not getting picked up as tastes change.
  22. Which brings us nicely onto David Rhodes "hung up in mid air" a Pye acetate I had to pay a fair bit for. Think there's 3 of them.
  23. I think it didn't come out on Pye in 72 when it was issued in the US was because it wasn't a hit in the USA. The group didn't really become worthy in UK record label eyes until "Armed & Extremely dangerous" broke into the charts in 73. As for the LP well it was co-Nickel Shoe music production, so nothing to stop Stan putting it out on his PG label or re-leasing it, indeed the B side "One step away" came out on the B side of "Smarty pants" (PG in US / Bell in the UK of course).
  24. Yes fair call Pete, until we see it or get clarification, it remains something of a mystery......
