  1. What about Otis Smith There's a Patrick Adams side on the label called Kings & Queens which I have somewhere, from memory it's not up to his usual standard.....Steve
  2. Went on the coach once - National Express from Victoria to Manchester. Took all day Sunday to get back. Never again, we renamed ourselves the "Inter City Firm" and from that moment on were regulars on the 20.25 out of Euston, change at Crewe......That way at least I could be back home before me Mum's sunday lunch was totally ruined.... Iain Stewart's mag = Soul Symbol
  3. Issued in the USA with two B sides, "What can I do" is great.
  4. CLASS tune, you should have no problem selling John.
  5. Quite often labels would experiment with different mixes of a song, and they'd press up a handful of tests to see which one the quality dept preferred.....that's probably what's happened here....Steve
  6. Bootlegged for the Jamaican market no doubt? Think I'll stick with the elpee......Steve
  7. Interesting I've got all the Arctic's bar Chains of love, and that's the first I have heard of that particular mis press..
  8. Interesting old modern sound from 1980 that's never really been revived. I wonder......
  9. The scene has always been full of people with a desire for a rolls royce playbox but with a push bike budget Some of the stories from the 70s and the IOU's to Soul Bowl are lengendary, so it has always gone on. Name and shame them Johnny, no more "Mr Nice Guy" - there is NO excuse for ordering soemthing you cannot pay for, it's sheer greed and selfishness.
  10. Yup great stuff - Trying to survive - how long have we tried with that - maybe it's right for today - who knows.... For any Harvey fans that don't know he has his own site, and is pretty friendly....Steve
  11. Wow. A great read Bob.
  12. Was there a couple of years ago - a complete waste of time - shop had nothing of any merit in it at all.. Some kid behind the counter not interested (might be Martins?). As for people thinking they're going to get real bargains off of North American dealers in this day and age - come on fellas!!! However he does however sound like he needs to sort himself out, or risk being tarnished a rip off merchant.
  13. Yes but a few of the later ones on labels like Dakar and Brunswick are demo only - think they got more selective as to what they actually issued towards the end. Steve PS: I did a 2 part article on Dakar it's on my website toodarnsoulful.
  14. Sam & Kitty, Wigan record bar £4 1976/7. I was earning £7 a week.
  15. Both demos and both Boobie Knight & The Universal lady on the US copies. like PDG have never seen a US issue of either.
  16. I probably have as I collected Dakar a few years ago, will check.
  17. Yes I agree, I think I'll play it at Groovesville.
  18. Steve G replied to a post in a topic in All About the SOUL
    Thank goodness no Mick.
  19. Lovely sound and it's never really had it's day. I like the B side too.
  20. Sorry to be pedanctic, It's not a promo, it's an acetate of one side of an album that never came out. Richard had it, and sold it on to a famous soul collector who has had it for some time. Think he let Sam cut a dub off of it....It's been missed whenever anyone has put any Prelude stuff out so maybe the tape ain't there.,....
  21. I once famously went on the stage at Wigan and requested Keith stop playing so much Britiah pop.
  22. Interesting, my kids don't like the music. My son quite liked Royal Esquires because he thought it was a bit 'drum and bassy' When he went out with a girl who liked northern he got into a bit of it, but it was only because the girl liked it. My daughter liked a few of those eco Artists from a few years ago when I got her the CD's India arie etc. but basically no from me and my kids.
  23. Clarky also did some others too and up the road at Lavender Hill.
  24. Henri's Bar, excellent night. Then onto The Railway West hampstead, Randy's allnighter at the Last Chance Saloon, and the 100 Club. Someone needs to put up the early history, as I am sure many on here won't know how it started or what the evening do's were like (totally different to the allnighters). Anyway a great achievement.Steve
