  8. I reckon about one in ten of the records from the states are badly/bizarrely packed. Jiffy bags with no stiffeners are the most common and nearly all the records turning up like this are broken. Some prat in Chicago (runs a record shop) sent a 45 with no stiffeners in an LP mailer and then came on here slagging me off and reckoned a 5% breakage rate was OK! The strangest packing was a 6 by 6 by 4 cardboard box containing a 45 across the diagonal, packed in those polystyrene bits, sent by Pythagorus records The most recent was a Paul Sindab on Powertree that was in a (new) pizza box, wrapped in newspaper, shrink-wrapped to one side of the box. When I complained about the risk the dolt had taken with the record he said he didn't know what a record mailer was. I explained that a record mailer is for mailing rare, expensive, 45 rpm records internationally and a pizza box is designed to get hot fast food no more than 5 miles across town. He claimed people had thanked him for packaging the records well, so I explained the notion of irony to him. Weirdly, all the records that are sent normal postage always turn up. The only ones that go missing are those that are tracked to the departure point in the country of origin and then not tracked until signed for in the destination country. I suspect a record collecting postie/customs officer at the point of entry to the UK.

There's half a dozen on ebay [here] including a demo
  10. No worries, mine's sold now Got a mint one the other week or I wouldn't have been selling it. It's not the rarest of the versions but I think it is one of the best - Clyde Milton probably shades it though. JM's 45 quid is somewhat out of date and just shows that guides are just that - guides!

  14. I wonder if anyone ever did a photographic study of record shops - UK or US - they all seem to be closing an it would be good to know that there was some record of them. Can't beat going through stacks of records.
  15. There's one finishing today on ebay [here] Nice tune Can't afford it
  16. Tony Hestor - Just Can't Leave You or Jimmy Soul Clarke - I'll Be Your Winner B*gger! thats two.
  17. There's one on ebay [here]
  18. I was hoping that you'd put everyone off bidding the listing format looked familiar. Tried to get that fantastic 4 cheap but someone else did
  19. If you paid by Paypal he has to send it to the address shown on paypal to be covered - don't think it would be his fault if you have the wrong address showing on paypal?
  20. Must be common cos I've got one too I paid $213 (about 140 quid) for my M- copy off ebay mid march, there was another copy more recently which went for slightly less I think. Popsike has some old listings which show anything from $104 to $392. Someone did well at $104. JM has it at £250 in his latest guide. Looks like it is a hard one to price

There's a Leon Haywood on ebay [here]
  22. I'm afraid that is rubbish, I wish this was a 10 quid record, it would be in my box all day long regardless of value. Absolutely fantastic tune, puts the hairs on the back of my neck up.
  23. He does have a box full, he's been selling them for at least 6 months. I've had one and sold it on but I'm not having any more. The red copy looks nice.
