There is a lot that needs to be covered and I am attempting to write that book. Whether i get it done or not wotking 60+!hours per week, away from home we will have to see but I am having a go. Just to clarify, the article which was thevsleeve notes for the Odyssey Northern Soul Box set, i had around a 1000 word limit which I over ran. It was in the main about the Northern side of the scene and the main nighters post Wigan, there simply wasn't space to mention everything including soul nights and the modern scene. I will hopefully put all that straight given time.

I don't think many are aware of the requirements laid down by the Royal Mail. It also states or stated that a jiffy type bag had to be used yet just about everyone sends in a card mailer.

I like to read playlists when time allows. However they don't tell you the full story,whether the set was appreciated, cleared or rammed the floor, if the Dj had rotten fruit thrown at him, what kind of night it is, music policy etc, numbers through the door.

Takking to Kev Murphy at the weekend reminiscing ablut some of the great nights at Lowron. One NYE stood out for both of us, Kev, Andy D, myself, Tim Brown all on the decks. Shame it is coming to an end although I've not been for some years now due to work and getting home on a Friday.

Dave, it was no oversight. The article was in the main about all-nighters, the bedrock of the scene. There are plenty of soul nights I didn't mention and all-nighters too. I had a limit on the amount of words so it was just not possible to mention every venue. It will get the acknowledgement in time. As for Stables, they didn't want all-nighters there and made life very difficult, they wouldn't even answer their phone.

I will have to try and listen tomorrow. Off out shortly.

His biography is a fascinating read but you need to read the first publication, it was tamed down with a fair bit taken out by lawyers.

I know someone who paid 1500 over ten years ago. I bet you can count on one hand how many have surfaced since. Considering how rare it is, how much a floor filler it is and how many would want a copy, I don't think 2.5k is unrealistic today.

Wasn't every six weeks or ao back in the 80s with time off in the summer? if just a tenth if the retro oldies crowd supported the likes of the 100 club and Lifeline in the past then the rare/ upfront whatever you wanna call it nighters would be healthy.

Is the question who should help spread the news, flyers, get word out that an event is on etc or who should run it, decide the djs, music policy etc?
