  3. Excellent compilation. Had a few plays here this past week.
  4. TWYBAL is one of the greatest 45's ever, doesn't need Levi or anyone else to make it any better, its class as it is.
  5. All on the site as well mate.... This set has been one of my favourite to record. Just about every track has “Stafford” written all over them. There was a period in the mid 80’s when Guy was just about untouchable as a DJ and it is clear to see why when you look at this set and the three previous podcast before it. Guy was well known for his instrumentals and here we get to hear the crop of unissued Detroit material he had in the mid 80’s. Michigan Move and Backstreet probably the two best known of the lot. Hope you enjoy listening to this as much as I did recording it. 1. George Jackson - Tossin' And Turnin' - Mercury (Rockin' Ritchie Adams) 2. Vidalia - True True Lover - Abtone Acetate (Robert Bateman) 3. Jaggerz - No Time For You - Unissued Acetate (Phil Terrell - Long Time Girl or No Time) 4. Mel Hueston - Searching - Cez Vista (Steve Mancha) 10. Phrentics Band - Michigan Move - Unissued Washpan Recording 11. Detroit Rhythm Section - Back Street - Unissued Ric Tic 12. 6. It was a Stafford spin for Guy and you can hear it in this podcast I did..... https://www.soulunderground.co.uk/StaffordTOTW/files/88762bb7ac7ad5ae827c0e5f50e9ddd8-26.html
  7. It'll just be me, not heard it for ages, or not taken any notice if I have, just seem to remember it a bit quicker.
  8. Well done mate, you'll be typing with two fingers next
  9. Curly Moore - You Don't Mean on Sansu althoug it sounds a little different, slower?
  10. They sound all right here Mark, certainly don't sound poor. They are mp3's, 5mb and over per track. Fine for the iPod.
  11. Some of the photos that remain will be in this video, a tape recording of the last night. Quality not great but you get an idea of what is/was played.
  12. I got the downloads. In The Oneder-Ful set there is an extra track... Homero Manzi y Aníbal Troilo - Sur What is it? According to wikipedia..... Sur is a tango with music by Aníbal Troilo and lyrics by Homero Manzi. It was first recorded by Troilo's orchestra with vocals by Edmundo Rivero on 23 February 1948. The first live performance, by the same artists, was at the Tibidabo night club in buenos aires Why is it in amongst the downloads?

Great show, enjoy both the northern and the rare and well done, lots forgotten and plenty of the modern records I've not heard before.
  14. Now if it had been taken where we were last week.....
  15. Thanks mate. really enjoyed putting the last three together. I wish todays nighter scene was as receptive to some of the great new soul music. Can't see it ever happening again.
  16. Podcast number 60!! Never thought I'd do ten when I started this! Well we have the third on the trot (fifth overall if memory serves) celebrating the modern soul that Richard Searling was featuring in his sets, many from major labels. A great testament to the open mindedness and diversity of the music back in the 80's. https://www.soulunderground.co.uk/StaffordTOTW/files/podcast_62.mp3 Gwen Guthrie - Seventh Heaven — Island Maurice Messiah — We Can Go To Your House — Quality Alicia Myers - I Fooled You This Time — MCA Angela Bofill — Is This A Dream — Arista Lillo Thomas — You’re A Good Girl - Capitol Atlantic Starr — Touch A Four Leaf Clover — A&M Dayton — Promise Me — Capitol Curtis Hairston — I Want You (All Tonight) — Pretty Pearl Gwen Guthrie — Padlock — Island Kashif — Help Yourself To My Love — Arista Jeffrey Osborne — Don’t You Get So Mad — A&M The Ronnie McNeir Experience — Keep Giving Me Love — Capitol Howard Johnson — Keepin’ Love New — A&M Lenny White — Didn’t Know About Love (Till I Found You) - Elektra
  17. Love to hear them too Pete, great to hear all the studio happenings. Back to Spector, for a musician, he must have been a nightmare as well as a genius, take after take after take! The film/documentary about the musicians at Gold Star called The Wrecking Crew is a great must see film.

"Sound Of Excitement" is also on the Jamito label. I like blue eyed but this is just too white for my liking.
  19. This is it I think....
  20. This photo was posted on Gethro's facebook page, taken on the last night at the Catacombs. I did a bit of photoshop improvement on the original photo at the time it was posted....
  21. Some interesting reading about Gold Star Sudio, apparently it was a former dentists office! https://cavehollywood.com/the-historic-gold-star-recording-studio-and-the-audio-legacy-of-producer-phil-spector-c-2009-harvey-kubernik/
