  1. Spot on Phil, most just don't get it, most aren't interested in the music per se. It wasn't just Rob though who had a willingness to push on, every DJ did, they all had individuality and a desire sadly by and large missing these days.
  2. I'd sooner see just the link personally then I have a choice to view the clip or not and not. It is no trouble clicking a link and opening a new page, it is often quicker than waiting for a page full of clips to load.
  3. Ady Croasdell first I remember playing this with any conviction covered up as Richard Temple back in the 80's. Andy Dyson as well as others mentioned also spun this in recent times.
  4. I've only heard it the odd time, no substantial plays. But I don't do many mainstreaM, Kings Hall type events so could have been played there but I haven't heard of any major plays.
  5. I stopped using them as the sound was 'dull'. They couldn't cut something for about three weeks so I went to Timmion who did it in 4 days and the sound quality was so much better than previous vinyl carvers.
  6. Someone remind me what The Blossoms "Baby Cakes" is please.
  7. But he explained why he mentioned Pal & Prophets, it is on the label with that title and not the one he is looking for, or did I read it wrong
  8. I thought JM auctioned one too but couldn't find anything and sure I'd seen another listed this past year but couldn't find that one either.
  9. I think the question was does The Whip on Phil La Soul by Fantastic Johnny C exist or not, not name every record that sounds like it
  10. John auctioned one two years ago for £560 ish, I've seen others at 300/350 innthat time too. I doubt it will see 250 for sometime yet.
  11. Done at the same session as Girl Across The Street apparently.
  12. I've just about given up with US ebay. Discogs for anything out of the States.
  13. The backing sounds exactly the same to me?? But the backing singers spoil the record completely before it gets going and the lead is strong enough IMO, the backing over powers her vocal.
  14. I don't know the Cheerleaders, only ever seen it talked about on here, think you mentioned it then Mick.
  15. As for those who think this is simply a moan, I would have thought the number of people viewing via mobile devices, phones and tablets etc is quite a large percentage and will only grow, then if you are happy to simply ignore these users then best of luck to you. Me, I would do everything I could to ensure my sales were to reach as many people as possible.
  16. The vast majority of records sold or should I say advertised through places like SS are known to the majority. Hardly any unknowns. So there is really no need for the youtube clips. Seen a couple of sales topics today and totally pointless. For lesser known material a sound file is often vital as only way to sell but uploading a clip to divshare etc and simply sharing the link is far quicker than making a you tube video. If using a video that isn't the record then that is totally pointless.
  17. Most sellers are lazy, that is the biggest problem. They do the easiest quickest thing, little effort for hopefully the biggest return. With sites like Divshare etc offering at least a couple of gig of free space there is no excuse for making a decent sound file, uploading and simply sharing the link. Far more professional, better listening experience, takes up far less resources and would get more attention from me. When I am not at home I rarely use or read sales on here, especially those who I know like to saturate their list with youtube clips.
  18. And two more from the late 80's https://www.mixcloud.com/Chalkster/rob-marriott-tape-from-late-80s/ https://www.mixcloud.com/Chalkster/rob-marriott-late-80s-tape-number-2/
  19. Here is a tape of Robs from 1992... https://www.mixcloud.com/Chalkster/rob-marriott-tape-recording-september-1992/
  20. Looks interesting and one I will catch up with. Who is Julie Cullen btw?
  21. £400 last couple. JM auctioned one as well.

The reason why ebay do nothing is because apart from the illegal item there is nothing in the description to suggest anything illegal. Ebay probably rely on a computer algolithoram or whatever they use to spot descriptive words that shouldn't be used, in this case bootleg. Other than that they rely on users to report them abd even then they seem to do little about it. Why the record companies haven't challenged then I don't know, not so much for the northern but more commercial stuff. I looked into the vestax cutting machine, £7k about 15 years ago and about 48p per blank disc. The bootleggers probably cut to order so the only work they do is knocking a scan up until one is sold. So at £7 per disc, £6.50 isn't a bad profit for each disc.
  23. Jsse James was his Arcades cover up during the 80's, used to love it alongside Tommy Ridgely.
