  1. FOUR EXCEPTIONS - YOU GOT THE POWER/SAD GOODBYE - PARKWAY The vinyl has lots of light scuffs and marks but plenty of gloss. The "A Sad Goodbye" side unfortunately plays with noise all the way through. The "You Got The Power" side plays through flawlessly. Please Listen to the sound clips and look at the scans. £30 SOLD RAY & DAVE - WRONG WRONG WRONG - MICA The record looks very good and plays as such however it does have a crack. If you look at the scan jot starts above the middle musical note on the right and runs round the label edge down to the "E" in Dave at about 5 o'clock. The crack at the top does run into the grooves for about 10mm or so and at the bottom it runs across the run out. Please Listen to the sound clip and look at the scans. £20 £15 It will be packed if anyone buys with added card and protection etc. Although I hate to use the term both are fine for DJing or if you can't afford a minter. Postage. First Class £1.50 Signed for/recorded £2.50 Special Delivery £7.20 (over £40 as you are not covered with any less) All records over £40 will be sent special delivery for insurance purposes. Europe & ROW ask for postage rates. Scans and sound-files on request. Records are often better than graded but if not happy for whatever reason then money back guarantee as long as the record is returned as posted. Paypal Gift Preferred

  3. 5. Don't think the Golden World, Ric Tic ones are remotely legit.
  6. Yep Motown did use the label name after purchase, prior to that nothing whatsoever to do with Motown.
  7. I don't think they and much choice as Gordy acquired their contracts as well as the labels didn't he?
  8. I don't think it matters one iota who plays it, if records like this can go mainstream there might be hope for the future. All decent records eventually have their day.
  9. I wouldn't say it was right DJ just that at the time the crowd wasn't probably ready. Andy Dyson played it for quite some time but it never really took off, this was at packed all nighters at the time of Sheridan's, Lifeline, Soultown, the same crowd and more that frequents the venue Tezza is talking about. Like I said it was played by other DJ's and dropped for whatever reason, they moved on, other DJ's and the dancers eventually catch on, tastes change and mature with age
  10. Has it? Who is playing it mainstream? Your right tis a great record no matter who is playing it.
  11. yes but it was played at other venues by at least three DJ's prior to the last four years....can't believe same old argument!!
  12. Happy New Year to all involved and all who use Soul Source. Have a great and soulful 2014.
  13. Are they subsidiaries though? I know Gordy bought them but that was to close the competition. I've never really considered GW, Wingate, Ric Ric, the early Inferno etc anything to do with Motown. They were separate labels run by competitors and the motown musicians moonlighted for them which Gordy didn't like, imposing fines which the likes of Ed Wingate paid.
  14. You are getting all too predictable Tezza
  15. It is ridiculous to suggest an artist who has had commercial success should be ignored and I wasn't for a second suggesting such nor am I tainting such artists, far from it. I am suggesting as others have is that all-nighter music is for the rare and obscure not commercially successful records like "I Say A Little Prayer". Yes, I know some have slipped through the net but by and large I wouldn't expect to go to an all-nighter and listen to records that sold in their millions and are heard on commercial radio playlists every day. Something from Aretha from left field that failed to make the grade commercially, that would be deemed inspiring by some although I would guess not by many others as her less commercial stuff has and still is played by the more discerning soul fan/dj. Why a DJ would want to resort to commercial soul is beyond me, there's tons of decent northern out there. No wonder I am fast losing my interest in travelling anywhere. I can go to local club nights hand hear such records so why would I want to travel and spend a fortune expecting to hear the best this scene has to offer and then have to suffer commercial soul records?

  17. It would be late(ish) 80's George sold it, he might read this if not can ask. He also had first copy of George Pepp.
  18. First played to my knowledge by George Sharp who sold it to Roger. There are a few other copies around I believe, know of at least two. Always believed Jimmy Williams the same guy just a different take, will have to compare again.
  19. Nice, wouldn't mind a copy if anyone has one reasonable. See plenty of copies but not cheap.
  20. Chances are the floor would be packed regardless, at the peak times at a nighter or soul night whatever is played will get a response if it is classic northern or club soul. It doesn't make it inspired DJing though just because you haven't heard it for sometime, something from totally left field would be inspired.
  21. It's a ridiculous argument really, a messenger bag with 20 Lps is nothing and you could always buy one of the trolley bags. We should have a new years resolution to ban ovo topics, getting ridiculous. The vast majority of us know where we are going, what the DJ's will be playing and really couldn't care less what others think.
  22. Mick was playing the Springers at early Lifelines.
  23. If it is unissued then I and many like me don't have a problem with them, if there is an original format out here then it would be that that would take preference. Again you wouldn't get many booking s playing reissues by the OVO brigade.
