Steve does say they went on to become Witches and Warlock and we do seem to have a first name for two of the latter incarnation.
  2. Royal Esquires was Richard Searling and Gary Rushbrooke first wasn't it? Covered up as the Embers "Playing the part of a fool".

Surfing the interweb, Jeff Lemlich says the Witch was was named Glenda, who had a connection with Enoch Gregory, the Dixie Drifter, a NY DJ? The Warlock's name was Ray. I have read these two names before elsewhere. I always thought Sew City was Matt Parsons label.
  4. Thanks guys, ill probably see Harpo on Saturday so wil have a word. Tony/Steve/George or anyone else, can you remember any tracks exclusive to Chris, ones he broke during the early 80's etc. Heard al the stories about his amazing collection, and some of the prices some were sold for, wonder what it would fetch in today's market? Cheers
  5. Anyone got a contact email address for him? Anyone remember what he was spinning in his sets early 80's at Stafford?

Yes it is just the Witches mate, my mistake. It came on the iPod earlier today whilst driving and just wondered who they were like you do.
  7. Fantastic dancer on Bang "She's Got You Now" but anyone know who they actually are?
  8. Excellent and informative article Rob. Some great photos too.
  9. All whose photo's I've used have a credit with them and they are I think all on Facebook. Flyers etc i will sort some for Elaine. I'll get in touch with her I think and see what she is after in particular. Or tell her to send me a message mate or ring or summat.
  10. They are all on the Stafford Story site of mine! I've loads of flyers, echoes and other stuff at home. Some fantastic Stafford photos from Neil Salter on my Flickr page and loads of other photos of the acts and some characters.
  11. The first link I think has all the shows thy were aired and who appeared. It is said the Dave Clark Five performances were from Shindig and Ed Sullivan and spliced into RSG footage.
  12. Suppose it depends who is selling Rod I guess. Some don't have the records too long and turn stuff over, some like you say aresat the a long time. Some can afford to sit on a record (for want of a better expression) until they get what they think it is worth, some can't and have to shift them, obviously at a price lower than they think it is worth or would wish to sell at. I use everything at my disposal but some more than others. There are unsold records in every aspect of selling, lists, dealers and ebay. I guess the way we buy records has changed dramatically in recent years with the advance of the WWW.
  13. Plenty of gossip about RSG and Dave Clark here https://missingepisodes.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=totp&action=print&thread=2646
  14. The two main guides are done as Dave says on the dealers experience of buying and selling.
  15. Said it many times, popsike probably the last place I go for a price. I use experience, actual lists, prices in boxes, dealer prices, prices on here then use auction prices. Auction prices could be driven by two lunatics who don't want to be beaten to a record and sense goes out of the window with some. Many dealers, collectors etc have stopped using ebay for a few reasons.
  16. Enjoyed part one so look forward to part two when I get home and download. Many thanks.
  17. I think Dave Clark owns the rights to everything to do with RSG, what exists and what doesn't.
  18. I have the Motown special on video in th garage. I think he only DVDs kicking about are boots. Show list here https://www.tv.com/shows/ready-steady-go/episodes/
  19. Bazza, I agree, it is the same for all eras, they've all got their share of turkeys. But I can't understand why this would be popular, even in an oldies room when there are far better oldies about at the time. I ain't understand an underground soul club (I know not everything was soul) would play a top twenty hit? I thought that was what everyone went to get away from? I know you wasn't advocating that it should be reactivated. I guess if you missed the late 60's and didn't do Mr M's where Pete says it was popular then I guess you missed this.
  20. Can't you think of anything more original than that I'm far from a chin stroker, i love it all from the cheesiest of oldies right up to today, I love good uptempo dance music when I'm out but it has to at least resemble soul music not crap like this. Like I said one mans fodder and all that. Any DJ or venue though that resorted to this today though i'd like to know so I can avoid.
  21. I could understand it being played on a scene still finding its feet that still relied upon tracks from pop acts of the time but years later when there was so much good stuff about? Still one mans fodder and all that.
  22. It's a terrible pop record even for Wigan and the pop stuff it played. i mean why go to Wigan Casino to hear this tripe when I guess you could go to any disco/club/youth club in any town to hear it? Maybe many of those who don't know it have just erased it from their minds? I guess you had to be shit faced.
