  1. you rarely see an issue compared to the demos....wasn't one on JM auction a while back? Paid £12 for an issue. Used to clear the floor with the slower flip, how tastes change. Wish I'd still got it, great double sider.
  2. isn't there a machine that will "polish" your discs?
  3. I haven't had to my knowledge one polished record from a UK dealer. I know it has happened but I know collectors who have suffered this at the hands of foreign dealers/sellers. I doubt it is down to dishonesty much of the grading over here simply a case of how it has been and how the system has worked over here for years. Of course there's a few who are dishonest and trying to con someone but crooks are everywhere, not just here in the UK so the blame cannot be solely placed on UK dealers. There are plenty of con artists, crooks and cheats in Europe and the US as well. As said if selling records you should clearly state your returns policy, postage and any other information that could be relevant. If in doubt ask the dealer or don't buy. Make sure you are 100% about every deal no matter where it is from. Make sure you have the name and address of the seller before parting with any money. How many times do you see a sale with no name, just a paypal address. I would also think twice about using gift payment via paypal if you don;t know the seller.
  4. There's loads unplayed, if old store stock then doubt they have seen a turntable. Bet there's a few dealers with stock that has come straight out of a warehouse or from a distributor.
  5. Maybe the Goldmine with Ex? It's better than the system(s) we have over here, or don't have in some cases. Ex+ would be NM which is what most US Sellers seem to use when I've seen it used.
  6. it always makes me smile when I see vg+++++++++++ Isn't Goldmine the standard for grading? It's what ebay go by isn't it? or advise its sellers to use?
  7. Maxine Brown, Let Me Give You My Loving is different on the Kent lp to the issued 45 on Wand. Not sure without going to check if it is the same on any CD.
  8. Will say the grading is better in the States but there are good and bad dealers/sellers everywhere not just over here. I won't buy of ebay unless there is a scan or I know the dealer and I always check the feedback. As Rod said use the feedback on here, warn others of your problems, you should be able to find the sale item easy enough. If others see a problem with a seller then others will avoid him or her.
  9. Chalky replied to a post in a topic in Look At Your Box
Was that the Ditchdiggers Daughters site Marc?
  10. Some just can't help themselves, abusive posts removed, topic closed, think it's run its course.
  11. I've just caught up with this and can't believe some of what i've read. Think it might be an idea for all to drop the personal stuff, think it might be an idea for all to move on, accept there are different elements to the scene and people into it for different reasons, some of it might not be to everyones taste but there are venues to suit everyones taste, just go out where you wanna go and do what you wanna do and enjoy it while you can.
  12. You can hear it in my podcast...bout half way through I think https://www.soulunderground.co.uk/blog/
  13. Rob Moss originally found it and it was given to one or two to get cut, it is unissued, not even listed in Motown files as far as I no. I've been playing it for about 4 or 5 years, think it had it's first outing at Lifeline, could be wrong.
  14. Nice one, thanks
  15. from 1982 covered up as Deon Jackson - I Might As Well Be Dead. Anyone remember what it was? Got a few of us stumped that one.
  16. didn't know anything about this, nice one Tim will order one later on.
  17. The second room at Stoke is now a "progressive" night run by Sam I think. Stoke is a fantastic night out if you want a night full of oldies, pity you can't get that atmosphere everywhere.
  18. If you wish to discuss the okay cokey then do so on the relevant topic, do not spoil another topic.
  19. Ted Massey's clip isn't it? He also posted it on here in refosoul when he got it.
  20. Nice one Bob, will download when I get home again.
  21. Roger Banks played this out for some years, Andy Dyson probably responsible for the recent interest and Ted bought one recently. Think Andy had a spare too which he sold?
  22. True, I know reluctant partners dragged along to a soul night who now love the music and everything that goes with it. They don't take it all as serious as some and just have a good night out.
