Why the price hike? JM books it at £750, which I would say is more than reasonable, when it was indemand and a popular spin once again two or three years ago you could get a copy for £600, saw quite a few go for that price. Why a 40% price hike now?

Reckon we all no the price of records, like housing, has been over inflated for years, maybe they are just settling down to what they should be? Your big ticket rarities should still fetch a tidy sum. Still no logic to pricing though, use the example often for something like Gene Toones, why pay £1500 when it is for sale on a fairly regular basis, and then something like the Andantes struggles to fetch £1k more with very few known copies.

Refosoul uploading is I think turned off while the new system is installed, should be back up and running pretty soon.

I once had a hotmail account hacked where they changed the password. I simply clicked on the lost password link and went through ghe process of getting new password. Once back in changed a few other settings.

Kev Murphy asked me to say that when Eddie Holman came over here he told Kev that there was only ever three red issues, Kev's was Eddies own and the ownership of the disc is pretty much as mentioned earlier. Kev was offered £8k but it was at Llandudno not Prestatyn.

Have we ever kept the scene to ourselves? I don't think we have, it's been commercialised for years by various parties and it's always been there for those that wanted it or searched for something different. According to many we were going to get a big influx of youngsters who having heard Sharon Jones, Amy Whingehouse, Duffy etc wanted to hear the real thing. Well it never happened and it is highly unlikely to either so I don't understand why some constantly feel the need to think we need to water down the music so that we might appeal to youngsters who like I said have no real interest in vinyl, many have probably never seen a record player. I don't think many understand that the kids do not want to hang around with people older than their parents. As always there will be the exception to the rule but they are an exception by and large, few and far between. If they like the music and feel the need to investigate more they will but they should take the scene for what it is, not some watered down version, diluted with retro sounding pop music. Why have retro music when we already have the real thing??? There's plenty of great soul music out there in all its guises and genres.

By and large kids are not interested in vinyl, downloads and iPods are what are relevant to them. I also don't see why we should dilute the music so that it "might" appeal to some youngsters. They will either get it or not and besides most have no inclination to hang about with people older than their parents.

There's plenty of collectors out there who aren't involved much and even at all with the Northern Scene. The grapevine reissue does sound good but it don't look no where near as good as the red issue
