  1. Never thought of that There are enough boots and pressings on .com though, one of reasons I can't really be arsed with ebay these days, trawling through all the crap!!
  2. those people will always be thee Pete, regardless of what you, me or anyone else says. All it takes is 5 minutes research/homework and you can get a realistic price on anything, no need to pay over the odds on anything....unless it is a real obscurity.
  3. Might sound daft but why not simply use .com? save you some money too if it shows everywhere when you ship worldwide??
  4. Chalky replied to a post in a topic in All About the SOUL
    I've e-mailed you Dave.
  5. oops, double posting!!!
  6. Ahh got you, I've always used .com for listing and viewing, saves the messing around using different sites...usually!
  7. I haven't listed anything for sometime but I thought if you shipped worldwide it was shown on all ebay sites?
  8. if you partake they'd probably be baggy after an all-nighter
  9. Nope don't recall this type of reaction though??? or maybe I have forgotten what was said
  10. well she's probably busier than ever now thanks to the members of soul source would we see this kind of fuss if a well known soulie who went to all-nighters etc offered dance lessons.
  11. Sad news and as Gareth says her work is simply fantastic. If anyone not sure they should get the Kent Cd Dean mentions, great listening. R.I.P.
  12. regardless of what opinions some of us have, Northern Soul is what you want it to be, we've all probably got a slightly different opinion of the scene. First and foremost IMO it is the music, well it is for me, its what we got into it for is it not. All soul music too not just Northern. The friendship came second and some lifelong friendships have been and are still being made, whatever path we have taken in life. I know it is a clich but It was a way of life, it still is for some. The music, the friendships, the gear (for some), the fashion(s), coach trips, services, record collecting, tape swapping and more...some of those gone by the wayside with the advent of the internet, lots all to easy to come by especially the music...good or bad? again different opinions about that. As for the music yes it is mainly soulful, black dance music but if you analyse the music over the last 40 years there is probably every genre going thrown into the pot.
  13. here's a scan of Love Can't Be Modernized off Benji's site.... There's That Mountain is on JM's ROTR but its that small you can hardly see owt! https://www.raresoulm...f-the-rare/T/13 There is a red Soultown one HERE

you could be right Johnno, Andy probably has more recent discoveries. Butch and Andy by far the top two.
  15. Not your usual french looking name, doesn't sound French either.
  16. Got to agree Malc, one of the greatest soul recordings of all time.

There's been some great DJ's but for me the best of all time has to be Butch. He was top in the mid 80's and he's still there. The mid to late 80's/early 90's (after Keb and Guy) no one came close to him with the quality and quantity of new discoveries. Still the same the last ten years or so. Only Andy Dyson in recent years close to him in terms of discoveries. Aside from Guy and Keb, Pat Brady had one of the best sets mid 80's, Kitch and Dean not far behind, Gary Spencer, Carl Fortnum and of course Rob Marriott....and more all playing some top quality 60's newies!! I've beeen spoilt over the years.
  18. Judge for yourself which is best. The labels LeMco.
  19. This only used to be £30 when it was really indemand some years ago, why has it doubled (and more in some cases) In price now? I see comments about other records being worth no more than £30 what is different with this one?
  20. Chalky replied to a post in a topic in Look At Your Box
I would have thought Al Hughes would be £250ish nowadays for a decent copy. Seen copy's go cheaper but not on the best of nick. Think you are talking bout the satisfactions Gray, different record though.
  21. £250 the last one I saw, put it on a list for Andy Dyson. Great record too!
  22. number two is only when it goes against the person who is buying. Many times I see wants but the price prepared to pay is far short of a realistic value. Once I replied stating a realistic £75 for the particular want only for the person who wanted the record to reply I was only willing to pay £25 I don't bother replying to most wants now. But why would anyone put up a price they are willing to pay, if you had the record for sale cheaper you are gonna bump up your price? I do agree its only manners to reply to someone who has taken the trouble to reply to a want request.
  23. I bet she's lovin' all this free advertising you lot are giving her
