  1. They are the scenes future IF they are going to be there in the future. What happens if a career gets in the way or when/if they have kids? Like I said before it's what a Dj has to offer not his or her age.

What do you think a DJ is worth? Up and coming, no disrespect but a Dj should be judged on what he (or she) has to offer, experience and knowledge also has a big part to play. You shouldn't a set just cause your young.

post your sales and close the topic Ted, thats the best way.

I would have thought somewhere in between those two figures. Dunno about it being obscure though.
  5. no, it's not just you Joe.

the only people the promoters should be making happy is the paying customer, not their mates with a dj set. Unfortunately too much of this these days

best venue, tough one as so many over the years. Probably the Winding Wheel in Chesterfield, only half a dozen or so niters but a great venue. Best current venue, Lifeline. Best Dj, Butch.
  8. probably didn't go down too well with todays dancers although some did dance. Suppose with records like that is when you play it, play 6 up tempo tracks, drop one in like that and the dancers might be glad of a plodder

45 minute sets are ok if you have another later on. 30 minutes sets ruin the night for me as more often than not the music is all over the place, different styles/genres, sets don't flow.
  10. Bobby Bryd, not forgotten, it's just too cheap for most to DJ with Orthea Barnes, had many a spin nover the years. I've played the odd time over the last few years along with her Your Picture On The Wall.
  11. I've seen it sell no problems at all for £250 and £300 in recent months. Mate had one at £200 and he could have sold dozens of times over. I've old lists of Andy Dysons from 1993ish and it was £15 on one of them. Wasn't this a one hit find (bit like the Ringleaders although nowhere near as many) with copies just being re-circulated amongst collectors and the market? Don't recall this being found in any great numbers for many years.

I reckon you are right Byrney, I'll have to dig the Echoes out and check.

Did Shaun run it before Guy? Can only remember Guy originally about '86/'87. MIck Lyons taking over in later years but the music just wasn't the same which was a shame as it was decent venue. Guy later went on to another Tony's Empress Ballroom in Mexborough, some great nights there too. Have the Old Grey Whistle Test on video, just copied it to DVD.

  19. It's one of those I got sick of hearing, seem to hear it at every venue Dunno why it still retains such a high price either, quite a few out there and fair few turned up not so long ago. Seemed to be a regular fixture on e-bay for a while.
  20. been playing this regular at venues like Sheridans and Middleton. Always someone comes up and asks what it is. Sheridans two once came up, found out what it was and went into the record bar and bought a copy. Old Magnificent Men cover up if memory serves me right
  21. been a couple or so over the last 12 months, around the $1000 mark.
  22. think listed O'Jays for £30 or £40 few months ago
  23. gotta agree, think it's great. Soundfile of the flip anyone (You Can't Destroy My Love), can't wait till the weekend to listen
  24. No real demand Mark as hardly anyone plays it. Only one I can say for sure is Andy Dyson. He also played it on Reflections radio show last year when we came north of the border and got some good feedback over it.
