I'd call the original the very first press/run, regardless of how many and what use they were for. In the case of Elijah Cole, he has a gripe because the 1st 300 he no longer has any control over them or the price. He admits he pressed them then calls his own work bootlegs...does that make him the bootlegger How can a second press/run, done many years later, obviously to cash in on the records popularity on the soul scene be the original?

which ever way you look at it, whatever the reason for the press....demo, private press, commercial use whatever, the original first 300 of the Mixed Emotions and the FH are surely the original press are they not. the label could be owned by the artist
  3. personally I wouldn't call it crossover, just a 70's soulful dancer but thats another arguement/topic
  4. heres one from original release.................i think Mixed_Emotions___Gold_Of_My_Life___Rock_Way.mp3
  5. fookin ell hope Nige is back on his feet and up and soulin soon. Send him my best Nige.
  6. if it was mint it would be £5k plus IMO, still think it will fetch $2500 or there abouts.
  7. got to agree with you Ted about being over rated. If it wasn't so rare it wouldn't get a mention, same as many big money records IMHO.
  8. Yeah I bet you wouldn't Still less than ten copy record and hardly ever comes up for sale so think this will go for big bucks, too many with more money than sense.
  9. Sure Dave Welding either said he'd had a copy or seen it. Anyway he sort of confirmed it existed (verbally mind) when I asked him at the Orwell, maybe Louise can help out here, know Dave's shy when it comes to PC's.
  10. I think both sides are fab but now tired of hearing it. As good as it is and as rare as it is it's been hammered.
  11. That'll be one of the disco records played Saturday night then Was told Butch had the first copy and sold it abroad? It's on another label too
  12. Remember BDR being played midish 80's. Certainly late 80's by Mark Bicknell. Got it on tape from that period somewhere.
  13. been played at nighters for a while, one of those you'll soon get bored with records IMO

One of the best beat ballads ever, awesome record. My mate has (or had) the original Bell Sound studio disc for sale.
  15. I might put it in the playbox just for you
  16. always was a £150 record, probably bit more these days. Think one went for quite a bit on one of the auctions? Only got a scan of the top side.....

  18. it's the flip side to Yes I Love You Baby on Top Ten.
  19. used to have a labrador called Tamla
  20. Never really plan a set, will take records out of the box, add a few etc then turn up with the box and play what I feel are right for the night, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. Always have a idea of a few I want to play before hand but usually never works out

I'm after scans or even original old flyers, particularly Bradford Queens Hall, Cletthorpes Pier & Winter Gradens, Wigan, Torch and Wheel etc, practically any old venue if at all poss. Cheers

Had a quick dig in the cupboard, Ady Pierce's 1st list is attached (not as old as Marks lists and hope you can read them. Few bargains on there...James Wesley Smith £120, Ruby Andrews £8....about right in the real world page 2... page 3...
  23. its been said already but there's far better cheap quality records than expensive quality IMO, many that never see a dj's turntable either that would put many big ticket items to shame. You just need the patience to go looking. Todays cheapie = tomorrows big ticket item Buy what you like, want and believe in
  24. some would pay the same price for water damaged as you would mint. You see it every day where people pay mint prices for not so mint records I'd ask and probably get £350 nowadays for a minter I'm playing an unreleased version with an alternate vocal.
