  1. Contributed? You started the discussion and have reported the bidding process as it gas happened practically. There would have been nothing said otherwise until the auction ended and rarely have there been topics about current auction items. Thats why I wondered if the disc was anything to do with you and the hype been given. Cross? Far from it, I was quite relaxed with a bottle of red, well half a bottle left over from Saturday 😋 Buying this 😂 I have never spent silly money on records and my days of spend several hundreds let alone several thousands are long gone.
  2. And this is why the collecting scene is fcuked for the vast majority of ordinary collectors. Records like this being stupidly over hyped. Yes it is desirable but there have been many others much more desirable but you haven't over hyped those like this one. It is rare but not that rare. It is a record that should be within reach of many but prices that it is heading towards has taken it out of reach of the many, just like many other records that aren't really rare. There is overpaying but not to this extent. People are being had for mugs, treated like they are incompetent fools who know sod all by far too many. I don't blame John, far from it, its those believing the hype with far too much money and very little sense I blame, cheque book Djs with no imagination. Why such interest? Is it your disc?
  3. Nope and in some cases having the opposite effect with prices of originals rising
  4. We were growing up, enjoying ourselves. We lived for the weekend but none of us thought for a minute we would be sat here now 40 and 50 plus years later discussing this thing of ours let alone many still trying to do what they did when they were 18.
  5. This week's show, 14th October 2021
  6. From what I can make out I don’t recall seeing a Jobete acetate like the out of focus one. All very ordinary as per the one of John’s
  7. One or two escapees from the institution by the looks of it
  8. Just a cover version done to milk the scene
  9. But Soul Bros Inc and Eddie Parker are not Northern Soul records, well they weren’t recorded as Northern soul. They were however accepted by the Northern Soul scene, given wider prominence and rescued from failure and obscurity by the Northern Soul scene, a scene that has accepted just about every popular and not so popular musical genre going.
  10. Think we will agree to disagree
  11. Oh they are and probably just as divided
  12. There isn't a club worth walking to now. Everything was new and exciting BITD. Now its the same old same tired records trotted out at every venue.
  13. Whilst R&R and C&W are not pure, they take others, R&R various forms of black music as well as C&W to make Rock & Roll. C&W also took various forms of music to make the one identifiable genre. Whereas Northern Soul didn't take and infuse or mix genres, the genres within Northern Soul stayed separate, pop records were still pop, R&B still R&B soul still soul and so on. That's why Northern Soul is an umbrella term for one scene encompassing various forms of music.
  14. This weeks show features special guest Crewe's Martin Meyler and a 3,2,1 from the North East's Allan Coney.
  15. I am with the others and disagree, it is made up of various catagories, Northern Soul is the scene IMO which encompasses various genres of music.
  16. I guess she is focusing on the struggles of the majority of us growing up, yes I know not everyone struggled but most of us were working class and we all happened to follow a genre of music whereby the vast majority of the artists struggled with so many obstacles in their way to a better life. You should all offer your services and be interviewed if you feel so strongly about the subject or leave her to get on with it.
  17. They’re a bit soft and drink Shandy 😂
  18. I was watching some nature program and it said a woodpecker wraps it’s tongue round it’s brain or summat like that when knocking on the tree etc to protect it, stop it from bouncing round the skull.

  20. Whilst that is true, many records that are not as rare as many think have fetched a vast sum. Probably seen more Tomangoes and Magnetics in recent times than Cecil. It is still one of the scenes greats and thats what attracts many, not the rarity.
  21. But not rare and in collections is pretty irrelevant when it comes to all time classics and especially one such as Cecil Washington. Logic goes out of he window and it is a Dj must have. We see examples on a weekly basis where he price defies all logic.
