  1. Some great soul there Is the pub really called "The pipe and slippers"?! If so what a brilliant venue for slower jams
  2. ....either on 45 or the LP if anyone has one pls PM me. Cheers, Steve
  3. Bit of a long shot I know but looking to upgrade my copy if poss as whilst the pt 2 side is okay (I'd say VG using SS grades and brilliant once gets past the intros...fine for DJing as they say, which is what most want this for I think), the deeper pt 1 side of mine not quite so good with too many crackles and pops for me to properly enjoy this side. No skips or jumps at all, just lots of snap, crackle and pop sadly. ....so anyone out there with a better condition copy and still wants this in their collection mainly for the faster pt 2 side, but willing to trade for lower quality condition to get a few hundred quid from me in return for trade? Cheers, Steve
  4. Also at London, Clapham Grand on 30th June according to her website tour dates. Would love to see and hear her live. Her vocals on The Staple Singers "Trippin' on your love" just get me every time I play it, which is most days to be fair
  5. You're welcome! Brilliant record and very affordable too...unlike that much rarer but similar to my ears bouncy United Sounds thing that sold for crazy money on eBay yesterday. I used to love "I'll name that tune in one" on TV with Tom O'Connor..making a return I read somewhere?! Bet there won't be much soul on there though Cheers, Steve
  6. The Manhattans - I can't stand for you to leave me?
  7. Absolutely.....and not forgetting the unbelievable range and depth of stories, insights to artists, their lives, what drove them, photos, label scans etc. I think the booklets in these Secret Stash double LPs and in the Kent + other compilations are amazing, worth the asking price alone. I've waited till these have hit UK dealers before buying them so haven't seen the limited 45s with each one so far. Really looking forward to the rest of them though.
  8. Thanks Brian and those who came along for another monthly soul fix...sounded better than ever in that room for some reason. El Michaels Affair - Too late to turn back now Pastor Kevin E. Stafford - So good Debbie S and the Sounds of Thunder - Try my love Sam Dees - Gimmie a little action Saun & Starr - Look Closer Saun & Starr - Blah, blah, blah, blah (lots of that in my ears as usual ) Josephine Taylor - For you my love Josephine Taylor - Your love picks me up The Lovations - Later baby Cooperettes - Satisfaction Ty Karim & George Griffin - Keep on doin' whatcha doin' Beverly & Duane - Love Heaven & Earth - Whole lot of love The Voices of East Harlem - Take a stand Lou Courtney - What do you want me to do Cheers, Steve
  9. Also love this since first hearing it (played out by Arthur Fenn and Soul Sam amongst others, Ian Wright play more for the funk side I believe) but not been able to prize a copy off anyone as yet..very cool and moody sound I think and that female vocal, the beat and those horns just get me every time. Please pm me anyone with a spare or if you're bored with yours
  10. What a brilliant read thanks. Sadly born just too late for Soulbowl (lost count of the stories and quotes I've read or heard about prices then, but all relative I guess). Just grateful now that many of those amazing records are still being played out and filtering their way out of some collections to still be enjoyed elsewhere.
  11. Still looking for this 45 to fill yawning gap in the Soul Junction box, if anyone can help? Many thanks, Steve
  12. REALLY loving these double LP's...I didn't know many of the previously released tracks and some of the unreleased work is just amazing. Top quality vinyl and recording clarity, the artwork in the gatefold sleeves so cool and the booklets, notes and photos etc finish each one to perfection I think. Oh and inclusion of downloads a real bonus. Keep up the great work guys and can't wait for the rest of them. ps...is a Valdons LP in the pipeline?, maybe with some more brand new tracks in there as well as maybe different mixes of the recent singles? Cheers, Steve
  13. Yes the whole 4 track EP is brilliant I think and a steal at under a fiver mp3. Cheers for looking over our plays
  14. Thanks so much and well done Steve for the last 12 months of posting your recordings and plays up on here..that's a serious amount of new and old soul to discover, hunt down and dig out etc...not a single track repeat either! Hard work but good work and something I certainly look forward to each week, Cheers.

  21. paid for DJing?...whatever next
  22. Scotters replied to a post in a topic in All About the SOUL
You could do worse than a used Pioneer DJM 250 if you can stretch to just over £100. No USB output but no doubt a separate little gizmo you can add to the analogue output to convert back to digital. Eg I record from one of these mixers direct to a Pioneer CD recorder, which can be picked up quite cheap used and great quality CD recordings you can then upload into iTunes or whatever.

  25. Thanks for taking the time to list those Mick. Last year just brilliant for soul releases (new and old) so if this year is half as good I'll be very happy! Please keep up the great radio show and recordings, playlists etc. Cheers, Steve.
