Mike McDonald* – God Knows
If it does it for you, don't fight it,like most things it was right for the time and will be a great memory track for a lot of folk. That vocal's as good as any, great intro and tempo so what's not to like? When you put it in perspective it's easy to see why it was so popular.Round robin ' kick that little foot Sally Ann' huge 45 for most of the duration of the Wheel, baffling that but in perspective? Like the man said,'when music hits you, you feel no pain'.Unlike what James Brown said..'Hair is the first thing and teeth is the second, hair and teeth,a man got those things,he's got the lot'.

Worst Intro?
A slightly different slant,a killer intro that descends into the biggest pile of bilge youv'e ever heard, imagine the horror when after the intro gets you up he opens his gob but it's too late, everybody's looking..time for your coat.

Walter Jackson, It doesn't Take Much
If 45's were priced by their quality, none of us would be able to afford that.

Piano Intros
For fans of ivory tinkling intro's everywhere, they don't come much better than this, has to be the long version though, ivories, strings and things..pure desert island, and when it comes, the vocal is to die for.The Chicago gangsters.

The Beginning of the End
Oh dear! Hope that by selecting the red arrow down icon I haven't disrespected anyone, but as an aside when I saw the Alston logo it got me thinking about the movie 'the music man' which focused on Henry Stone, his label's and the Miami scene at that time,it was due out last year but seems to have sank without trace.Anyone throw any light on it?

Another mystery track
https://youtu.be/v8NAxLKTr3c Found on an old tape cassette from around 10 yrs ago,no tracklist and all avenues exhausted. Not my usual tipple but this is a bit special, nice and dark.I'm thinking it sounds like Blackstreet or maybe similar from that R'n'B period.Video clip not that good but hey! One thing I do know is it's not the Sharpees!..mind you..nah!.

70's & 80's Stuff For A Friday

Records that are literally too good to play
Hey up you two,I think Richard must've had a couple cut for Tim Brown and Andy Dyson, both played it at the Wilton and it jumped in the same spot as his acetate! There's a fabulous mid tempo version which is slightly different but we'll worth a look by Emmett Garner jnr "check out what you've got".Eileen says hi...see you soon.

Records that are literally too good to play
Richard Searling's Mayfield singers"the weather's always the same" never saw much action, a one copy only acetate but he was reluctant to play it for the above reason.Must be the epitome of a Chicago dancer, nice unreleased Donny Hathaway version too.
